My System: Digibox + Dreambox Dual core Athlon |
Hi All, ![]() Forgive my ignorance, I only started reading up on the Dreambox yesterday. I think I`ve got the basics of it, but I have a few questions for the more learned of you. My basic setup is Sly+, PC with Wifi card, remotley positioned wireless modem/router. The DB will be permanently connected to the PC via a LAN cable. Q1. I see most users have the DB connected to the `net, would I be able to do this with my setup ? i.e. DB via Lan to PC , PC Lan to internal Wifi card, then Wifi card to wireless router ? (phew!) Q2. Would I be able to stream the video/audio into Win Media Centre under Win7 ? Q3. I`ve read loading an image via LAN is not recommended, is this still the case ? Cheers for any replies. ![]() Dai.

My System: 1M Gibertini Dish, 3 Quad Alps LNBs receiving 13E, 16E & 19.2E tied in with Minidish on 28.2E. 3 Dreamboxes 7020S FWP 6 Gemini 2.2 & 2.5. Dragon CAM 4.1, CAS2. | Q1. That would work with a bridge on the connections under your PC. Q2. Hmmm, not sure, you will definitely be able to stream to the PC, whether directly to media centre I dont know. Never tried it. Q3. I did all my image updates over LAN, and it was alot over a couple of years. Never had an issue, maybe others had.

Blog Entries: 1 My System: DM7020S ~ DM500s ~ sg2100 ~ Gemini ![]() If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots | The LAN update that was sometimes flakey was when using DreamupLAN compared to using Dreamup and a null modem cable.. These days you often update using a web browser. Welcome to the forum

My System: Digibox + Dreambox Dual core Athlon | Thanks for the replies, Regarding updating via a browser :- Would this be the same procedure as updating the firmware in a wireless router...ie pointing your browser to the IP address of the DB ?..........do you get the DB GUI in this case ?. I thought updates or software add-ons had to be done via FTP.....again, I`m a noob. Also, should an image update fail for whatever reason (loss of power) , is it recoverable? Cheers, Dai.
