My first Dreambox :)

Hello

I'm glad I have found this forum.

I got my first dreambox a while ago and the guy who sold it to me said I need to pay a yearly subscription ( around 100USD ) to get all the channels.

I feel he's ripped me off, I am sure there must be a way to do so without paying him.

Now most of the channels are gone i can only watch "standard" ones.
He says there is a file he needs to setup via FTP to "renew" my subscription for a year.

Is this how DB works? I am not sure. I don't know much about this technology so if guys could help or advise that would be just great.

Sorry for my bad english. If you need any sort of info i'll be glad to give you.

Hello again , my first post

Hello

Welcome to the forum bebseh

You are obviously involved in a card sharing ring and yes that is ostensibly the only way you can watch free TV now without buying your own subscription. Pay your money or do without I am afraid.

Well

No there is no way round this now, dreamboxes were good for keys and emus but generally now encryptions have been tightened up and although there are a few channels open still (but probably not for long) sharing is the only alternative and I suspect the next step on the agenda for the antipiracy teams will be the stopping of sharing systems.

You are probably missing channels because the frequencies of the channels have altered or the card ring are no longer funding a subscription to whatever it was you were watching. You can check to see that the former is not the problem by checking the channel details on flysat or lyngsat

Hi,

All good info from Topper.

It's called Card Sharing. The idea is, you've got a card and you let your mates connect in and make use of it. In return, your mates let you connect to their boxes and use their cards. In your case, you're paying someone for access to his cards.

On his box, he has a list of people he'll let in. In your config, you've got a username and password for his box. This is probably what he's offering to update for you if you cough up.

There are free card servers out there but they tend to be busy so you'll get no picture or one that cuts out.

Cheers

Well now we know why you are not getting the channels now. French TV effectively moved to the satellite cluster at 5 West

Bis TV requires a subscription and I believe a dedicated stb is required and a French address

You can however still watch some French TV channels in 5 West for free in analogue SECAM

Bis details _http://www.bis.tv/#accueil

You can watch Fr 2, Fr3, and Fr5 on the 5 West Sat for free...they are Fta....Fr4 is encrypted in Viaccess. Don't know where you hail from though...down South under the Italian Peninsula the signal level is excellent.
