My Dreambox Journey - Plenty of questions!

I bought a DM500 clone following a thread on HotDealsUK as I was looking to replace the noisy Sky+ box that I have in the bedroom.

The box arrived yesterday and so I set about getting it connected up. Once booted the language was in chinese and the background showed "GP" which I have worked out is Gemini Project.

A bit more reading highlighted the fact the Gemini and Clones aren't best friends so a bit more research pointed to the fact that PLI Jade would be a suitable image to load for my sky based requirements.

I grabbed the image and using some instructions on the web ftp'd the image onto the box before telneting to execute a flash and reboot.

On booting PLI Jade I finally got a nice friendly english menu and fought my way through setting up the necessary satellite transponders.

I am now able to receive the sky FTA channels no problem and must say that the picture quality actually looks better than the original sky+ box!

I then also gave the box a static IP as I like to know where it is on my network at all times!

Now for my first batch of questions.

1) Is there an idiots guide to bouqets and how to get them onto your box? I'm obviously looking for a Sky lineup bouquet.

2) How do I simply setup the box to allow me to put my full sky subscription card (white one) into the box and access the channels I pay for? I see reference to newcs and CCcam but am not sure of an idiots guide to what they are! Following some reading I installed 2.1.2 of CCcam and 1.66 of newcs but out of the box they did nothing. I grabed "Dreambox Config Creator v0.7.0" and followed the tutorial for creating the sky box key and then the newcs.xml and CCcam.cfg files but this doesn't appear to have made my card be happily read. (The card still works fine if I put it back into the Sky+ box)

Next things to be investigated:

Recording via LAN to my windows home server
7 Day EPG for Sky

Hi there, to get your bouquets organised you need to download the DreamBoxEdit program. Heres a list I have which will need a bit of updating as its a bit out of date but it will get you started and the updating will get you familiar with the program and its workings.

I assume you have already scanned the 28.2e sat. First thing to do is unrar the settings I have uploaded. Open DBEdit click on Tools and then Options. Put your boxes IP address in and the releavant username and password. As your box is a 500 click on Satellite Receiver and then hit Save

Next hit Open in the main interface and navigate to where you unzipped my settings. Hit OK and the program will list all the channels. As its a little outta date and you have already scanned the sat click on Tools again and select Compare Loaded Services With Services on Dreambox. After it processes the file set click on Update Active File Set with Checked Services. When done click Save.

Now select FTP and then click Send Files to Dreambox.
Reload the settings and you should have your bouquets on the 500

You will not have deleted any of the non working channels yet so any of them that are out of date should be duplicated with the updated settings in your All Services list. Find the updated ones and just replace them in your bouquets as required.

To get your card working you need to download a NewCs/CCcam combo not 2 separate cams. The NewCs will need to be 1.66 or later. Use Dreambox Config Creator v0.7.0 to create your CCcam.cfg and NewCs.xml and ftp them to the box. Restart the combo cam and the job should be done.

Thanks for that, will look at dreamboxedit and have a play around!

This is what I downloaded and have setup, is that wrong and if so any hints from the lists what I should be choosing!?

Not familiar with the workings of PLi mate but if they are the only options you can download from their server i think you should have a look at the PLi Wiki. The specific info for that image will be on it.

Also have a look here DM600/Pli Jade New White Sly Card - How I got it working.
