Add a record button to the remote

There is no "record" button on a DB500s remote control so you can only record using the timer function. But a record button can be "added" by modifying the rcdmxxx5.xml file (and as I recently flashed my DB I lost the record button and had to remember how to do it... hence this post).

Anyway, copy the rcdmxxx5.xml file from /share/tuxbox/enigma/resources/rcdm5xxx.xml and save it to your PC.

Make a backup of it.

Use the "edit > find" facility to search for RECORD and make the following change:

change:

<action name="record" key="record" flags="m" />

to:

<action name="record" key="mute" flags="m" />

After editing it save it to /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/resources/ as the original file is read-only () and can't be chmod'd with WS_FTP.

You can now use the mute button when in DVR mode (the yellow button) to as a record button.

mnt/hdd/500 is on your 7000? It has 755 permissions for your 500 user?

The user name and pwd in mount details are a valid user on the 7000?
Can you browse the 7000 using File Mode on the 500s?

Menu > File Mode (3)

i can browse files hdd on 7000 from the 500 now, but when i try to record i get the following error " Record failed due to an write error during recording. Check for file system corruption ".i tried both ro and rw in options. i have nfs server running on the 7000 with hdd mounted. there are a few other folders in the hdd folder, fwpro, samba share,my films folder(xbox films). do you think this would cause a problem. i tried with mounting new folder called 500 within the hdd folder but i got the same error. other forums mentioned using cifs but i do not know how to go about using this setup.

i got it working after finding some info on ihad forum, cheers funcross. these are the settings with 7000s as nfs server and 500s as client. had to lower rsize and wsize to 2048 to stop "record failed " error.
7000s ip - 192.168.1.3

MOUNT
IP: 7000s ip NFS
DIR: hdd/
LocalDir: / mnt/hdd
option: rw
Extras: nolock,rsize=2048,wsize=2048

NFS-SERVER
IP:192:168:1:0
SUBNET: 255:255:255:0
rw,no_root_squash,sync
DIR /hdd

you can add multiple client box's by putting 0 as last ip digit instead of one client box's ip.have to test this out yet

Did you try it with CIFS rather than NFS?

got it working using gemini 3.10 images on the 500s and the 7000s. i enabled nfs server on the 7000s and put the mount settings listed above for the client box. seeems to take a few minutes for the both the nfs server and client to link up after you saved your settings. must say gemini image is very user friendly image to set up nfs server when you know the values to input .great being able to record so easily now with the 500s . cheers for the help mhku

Did you try CIFS as well as NFS? CIFS is built into Gemini.

did not try cifs as i eventually got nfs server working. to enable cifs on the 7000s do i just mount the 7000s as cifs, the same way as i would mount the 500s.,,using its own ip address?

I haven't tried it. I would have thought you could have used CIFS to mount the 7000 in the same way as a PC hard drive without installing NFS on the 7000.

But glad to hear it's all ok now

Greetings guys!
1st post in your forum and i am happy to see that there are people here that wish to help us.

My question is about the quote above.
I use Pli Jade on a dm500s.
By which way can i install (or locate if it's already installed) the DVR mode-plugin ?

I already have succesfully mounted dreambox with a folder on my pc's hdd.A folder with structure like /dream/movie

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum

Can you post a few screenshots of the PLI jade Expert Panel settings as I've not used that image? Does it have a quick button settings option?

Look at your quick button settings- is there a DVR option? If yes, make it the yellow button.
