I have this workin now even with sound on Sky channels, but its a unreliable after about 15 min the picture goes all blocky until I press stop and play again.

Has anyone got any tips for me on how to get a reliable stream from my 500s to my PC It donesn't have to be VLC it just needs to be good as I want to use my laptop as a second TV.

Thanks for the reply rolf the link you posted doesn't seem to work.

I suppose really what I am looking for is verification that what I am doing is vaild I want to use my laptop (high spec so I know thats not the prob) as a second TV.

To do this I am opening VLC on the laptop and connecting to the dbox stream directly, this seems to work well except for me having to start and stop VLC after about 15 mins beacuse of the blocky picture.

I am also using a a wirless LAN 802.11g which I think should be up to this job.

Is what I am doing a vaild way to use my laptop as a second TV?

If not what is the best way for me to do this?

Thanks

Here it is, you will need to change the password and probably IP in the text file.

You have to edit the .conf file with your Dreambox IP address

My System: DBOX 2 + PC + NETWORK + XPHOME

Daftgrab does not work neither does VLC. Daftgrab just says "Not Found"
Yet I can ping my DBOX2 at (192.168.1.5) Reachable
I can ping the streaming server i.e my P.C (192.168.100) reachable
the DBox 2 does not show up on my network though.
I am trying to sream from the DBOX2 to the P.C
under Win XP Home. firewall is Off
any ideas. Have not found ANY software which actually works yet
I did manage to get the list of channels through TuxVision last night.
Unfortunately TuxVision does not work weith the more recent image
and its author died several years ago.

All help appreciated

Thanks

Hank

I am not surprised it does not show up you are showing them as being on different networks also the server should have 4 sets of digits e.g. 192.168.1.254 not three as you show
