Smartcard Slot

The 7000S (blue LCD) has two smartcard slots, in addition to a CI interface.
To watch official smartcards, I always use a CI CAM (Viaccess CAM for example).
I tried to insert the card in the Smartcard reader slots with gold chip face down and using CCcam EMU, but without success.
The 500S has only one smartcard reader, without CI slot, but recently I read a thread about opening Aljazera official card with 500S.
Is it possible to open smartcards in 7000S using only the smartcard reader slots?

My sky card is in one of the smartcard reader slots in my 7020 (and in the 500 before that) both with CCcam. Presumably works the same in a 7000? But then I don't know what a smartcard is

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

I am using CCcam with a Freesat card and a Viaccess subscription card, works well in both slots.

I have had several cards in the past, in the card slots and they work fine in my 7000

they do work, but but if you choose common interface from the blue button menu (on gemini) they dont work.

you need a soft cam working, ie CCcam2.04 or similar.

Thanks for the replies.
I thought I would give this a second chance, so after box shutdown, card insertion. the channel cleared up without CI
Tested again in the second slot and it is also OK.

I can't check the smartcard information like subscription validity, etc. as can be reported by the CI CAM.
Any idea if this is possible (not that important though since I can always check this with the CI CAM)

If you use CCcam you can read the info from the card using a web browser. Think it was your Dreambox IP followed by :16001 (I check this).

edit- yes it's this (cheers Billnot):

open your PC browser at

http://<your.db.ip.>:16001/

and CCcam will give you a very useful tabbed page of information and options.

Question

Using CCcam 2.04 my Sky card is ok in my 7000, but it won't recognise my Gamma.

Anyone had any luck with a Gamma card ?

Thanks mhku and Billnot.
I can see the info under Entitelments. Great.

To summarize:
The Dreambox 500S (and also for all other models) has the capability to open an official smartcard without the need for a CI CAM (cost for Viaccess II Red is 39 Pounds. I am not sure about the other encryptions, since I can't test them myself, but feedback from other subscribers would give us a better picture).
Making this box highly competitive pricewise, since at some stage there might be a need to use an official SC.

Does it recognize it in an Irdeto CAM in the CI slot?
Shutdown the 7000S, take out the CI CAM if you have one and also the Sky card so that you will not have any other cards and then insert Gamma card in the top cardreader with gold chip down, switch on box and wait.
If nothing happens, then it is possible that CCcam 2.04 doesn't support it.
Let us see if we get replies from other people.

If you are able to watch channels with a CI CAM, then it is not critical to get it to work in one of the cardreaders.
I am using Gemini 4.0 image, in case the problem is image related.

I'm using the latest Nabilosat image, I've got a DB 500 with the latest Gemini in the boot of the car, I'll try that soon as I get a chance for comparison

The latest Gemini image is 4.1 and we had reports that it is causing problems.
Try to test with Gemini 4.0
Good Luck.

Thanks HB13DISH,

Can't find any probs with Gemini 4.1 here, but as the new owner has requested 4.0 on the DB500 I will try that when I get a chance (busy time of year for me - supermarkets can't seem to get enough stock delivered )
