Dreambox FTP problem

Hi, this is week number three of searching for an answer. I cannot FTP the box anymore (it worked before I upgraded the image to the latest PLI). The Network settings in the box are correct, it has a static IP adress, I can ping it without problems, but I get no ftp access. With DCC I get the 10057 error, with other ftp programs it connects shortly to the box before it says that connection was refused by the host. In a CMD, with ftp and the "open" command, it says Connection closed by remote host. Any ideas? Please?
Thanks
JC

Thats a password error if i'm not mistaken

Go into expert menu and do a full box reset and use the standard Root/dreambox username and password to get back into the box.

You will then have to do a complete setup again unless you have got your channels backed up

In all honesty i'd go for another image while your at it as i've never found the Pli Images that good.

I'd go for the latest Boxman CVS image in flash and using flash wizard put something like S.I.F 1.9.3 or Nabilosat Darkstar on USB. You could even put Pli back on and swap between several images to see which ones you prefer

Thanks a lot, I reset the box and it worked again. Will install the Boxman, thanks for the tip. I have not used flash wizard in many years, as it was very faulty then... I'll give it a try.
Appreciate the help!

Actually, what I didn't get: How can the password change if I didn't do anything?
Thanks

now I know why I did not use usb images

I did install the boxman CVS into the flash and the darkstar on USB. I get the boot menu, but afterwads the box hangs at the "Dream Multimedia 1.10" screen... Any other image hangs as well, only flash image works.I remeber that I have had the same problem years ago, that's why I only used the flash images. As every setting and satellites are destroyed by now anyway and the box is unuseable like this, I would like to get this going now:-) Can you guys help me with this?
Thanks

i cannot see it being a image bug if it works on evey other box then surely boxman should work on yours .. did you use the correct image for your model . i would of rebooted it again and seen how it performed ..but if its a no go just flash on another image ( the image that worked for you in the past ) i like darkstar and sif team but i have dm 500 and 600 .. best of luck

Hi, it is not that the boxman wouldn't work. The problem is that the images on usb or CF or HDD (any of them, not parallel) in multiboot don't work. Any of those would hang at the bootloader screen after the image choice. Can the bootloader be defect? But why would the flash image boot then?

Use the newest version of flash wizard

My 7020 used to hang for sometimes upto a minute on the boot screen after i had put a new image onto the USB stick. After it booted for the first time it was ok after and booted normally

Try using a different USB stick. Please also remember if you have a Hard Drive in the 7000 the CF card won't work. It will just cause the box to lock up

I have read that it might take a while until it boots from usb or CF, so I waited for a few boots for up to five minutes and the last time even over night. It is the same for USB or CF or HDD (which I disconnected whenever I used either usb or CF, just to make sure). would t make sense to exchange the bootloader? Appreciate all your help in this, this is one of the best boards I have found so far...

Hi, I have tried Flashwizard pro 4.0 and DCC 2.96. whichever worked, I can't remember. But I was not able to format the stick as part1, only as disc if that could cause a problem. If the stick otherwise has worked before, e.g. for swap and var file, could it still be a compatibility problem? I don't think so as I have the same problem with CF drive as well...
