have a 7000 with da vinci 5.8. it has 11 sats properly registered in setup. in manual search only 7 can be selected. in auto tp scan 8 can be picked. often when i ask it to scan it will say searching 27741123/v/27741123 etc. seems on the brink of insanity with a lockup almost daily.have gemini and other things in this computer ready to load into db but have never done this before. my questions are; will gemini kill db or cure it? will any plugins survive? can it do mpeg 4?

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

mpeg4 = hidef. There are no hidef Dreamboxes available.

Flashing a new image will wipe your plugins (but there may be Gemini versions); I've not used Da Vince so can't help with your transponder problems. Does a 7000 have a USB port?

Can you use a 7000 with a USB stick and use multiple images? If yes, just try another image on the USB stick.

this box has had multiple images since including pli-ones,dream official & gemini 4.0. it currently has pli-iolite. my question is why does it take up to 10 secs to change from V-H or vice versa on the same sat,yet can change to another sat & polarity in 1/2 sec?same prob on all images.

I have 7000S and Gemini 4.0 ONLY and many plugins all working great.
The support for Gemini is excellent.
Why do you need more than one image?
Try to flash only with Gemini (latest 4.2, avoid 4.1), without the USB stick at first and then insert USB stick and move the /var to it.
There is a thread about how to do this.
Then check the response.

dont have usb stick. have been trying different images just to see if any are better than any others. pli iolite seems marginally best so far ,also has sats for australasia included as standard, all others stopped at 72 deg E. seems this H/V bit may be hardware rather than software related.
