My System: Dream box 7020 Windows XP 80 cm Fixd satellite dish BTvoyager 2110 configure with dhcp
7020 & Vista

HI,
can anyone help me connect to the advance feature of my dreambox 7020?
I tried to use a null modem cable and a crossover cable,
I also configure my laptop IP to 192.168.1.5 and the dreambox to 192.168.5.2.
Running window XP, I use Hyperterminal 115200/8/n.
Still can't receive any info from the dreambox, also can't input from my keyboard.

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

Welcome to the forum

Have you had a good read of the Idiot's Guide?

A null modem is only used to flash a new image.

If you connect the Dreambox directly to a PC use a crossover cable; use a normal CAT5 cable if connecting it to a router.

192.168.1.5 and the dreambox to 192.168.5.2
Try setting the Dreambox to 192.168.1.2 or .1.n (where n is any number up to 254)

Can you ping the Dreambox? Can you provide all the details in your Communication Setup page?

Why are you using hyperterminal? Are you connected to the Dreambox using a crossover cable?

Use a crossover cable and a web browser on your laptop. Or set it up using your Dreambox remote control and a TV, which is the easiest way.

What are you trying to do?

mhku,
I just bought the box, it came with access card 9.
I usnderstand the card is to decript channels.
The box is currently connected to a fixed satellite dish, pointing to Astra/eurobid 28.2

I will like to take full advantage of the internet so as to be able to decrypt some channel on astra eurobid 28.2.

Being an idiote, I want get out of this darkness

The quickest way is:

Connect the Dreambox to your TV and use your remote to set it up.

Connect the Dreambox to a router using a CAT5 cable.

Re-read the Idiot's Guide and use search in the Dreambox forum.

What image are you using? And if you want us to help you please answer the questions asked in post #4.

You can forget about trying to decrypt anything on 28.2E with anything other than an official S'ky card.

What is it you are trying to do when you say you want to connect to its 'Advanced 'Features'?

Read the Idiot's Guide.

Connect it up with a null modem cable and use DreamUP to flash it with a copy of Gemini or another image.

Read the Idiot's Guide.

Setup Communication page of the Dreambox. Use a LAN cable to connect the Dreambox to a router.

I have no idea why you are using Hyperterminal and you will not be able to flash it this way - read the Idiot's Guide, it's there to help people.
