Wireless Dreambox 7020

Hello experts

I am looking to eliminate cabling and connect to my wireless rounter wirelessly, instead of moving my PC beside TV or having long cables through the house.

I read about a Lynksys game adaptor that can do this, do you guys know if any wireless adaptor from Lynksys or (reccomend another) will work this way, or just the game adaptor?

Thanks

Thanks for that... I'm looking at another Lynksys adapter, other than the game adaptor (that works for xboxes etc) So I'm also wondering if anyone has anything other than the game adaptor working wirelessly.. thx again

I think CROSSBONES is using a Netgear WGE111. They seem to be reasonably priced.

It seems that alot of gaming adaptors might work if they have an ethernet port with little or no configuration. I still wonder if you can do it through USB...

In theory yes, the only problem is that you probably wont find any compatible device drivers compiled for the dreambox platform.

My System: AZbox HD Gibertini 85cm dish 4 way Diseqc switch........ linksys access point connected to Azbox..

Hi indublin....
I had both my dreamboxes 500 and 800 set up with a lynksis wireless access point (sitting either on top or behind of said dreamboxes)...with just 1 short ethernet and cable no wires trailing from PC thru house. A little bit awkard to set up initally but worked a treat..and coincidentaly I have one up for sale on adverts.ie. (I'm in Dublin too)...cheers

Do the connected boxes need to be on the same electrical ring?

The ones I have used have worked off seperate rings. My m8s router was installed in his bedroom(Virgin) dunno why they put it there, and he has two seperate rings for the plugs upstairs and downstairs.

Can you shed any light on this usb connection idea?
The LAN connection on my DB7020 seems to be *****ed
and I need an alternative.
Something like this Wireless Adapter, plugged in the USB would be a good work around, if it will be recognised by the DB???

There's not much more to say on it really. Dirvers for the Linux + PowerPC platform are rarely available for common consumer electronics.

My System: Dreambox 7020 with 120 gig hard-drive disk - running a motorised dish DM800 +DM600 +DM500 although only usually the 7020 and 800 are both on.

There is a guide out there for getting an 800 up and running on Nabio with a USB wifi stick, (the ones that look like a USB memory stick).

So it is possible but i guess you would need to check out the drivers and at worse do a port.

My System: DB 7020 250GByte HD - Manhattan 100HH -1m LH dish <Network>Netgear WGE111 to Linksys 354 G router <Software> FW Pro, Dreamboxedit and Gemini 3.40 USB also using PC with Skystar 2 and DVBDream

I'm using the Netgear WGE111 which works well enough. I would consider using a homeplug through the mains. It's probably just as neat as having a wireless game adapter.
