after upgrading to enigma 2 over receiver menu dreambox 800 dead!?

Hello!
today i got my dreambox 800,first i try to flash the gimini image,but i did not get any conections,mybe my comport cable is the wrong type

then i go the menu software upgrade in the list,enigma 2 was downloading,and screen shows 11 update installed suxsesfiully,then i exit the menu start the box new,i saw the screen dreammultimedia in display,no picuture nothing happens after 5 minutes,i replug the power,no nothing happens no picture,and no display

only the light of the ethernet port is brighting,so what should i do now?
any i ideas first steps with the "mashine"

I would start from scratch and flash it over ethernet with a new image.

Assuming you have a LAN with some device that will assign an IP address using DHCP.

Power off the box, then hold the standby button in while you reconnect the power supply, after around 10 seconds flash should be erased.

I think the DM-800 displays its IP address on the LCD screen when you do this.

Once you have the IP address, you can connect using a webbrowser and load the new image to flash.

If you remove the power supply and re insert it quickly it usually boots up again. Other people have said on other forums about having to plug in/plug out upto 20 time to get theirs to boot sometimes. Think about 5 is the most Ive had to do.

I take it this is a problem with the DM800 ? Is it software or hardware related? Overheating?

yes it works with the power button thx!
but this repluging problem i have also,very strange,often it happens that the image complity crashed,and box boots new,after changing the ip and save,after install ccam now it is imposible to access over ftp standart ip 192.168.0.6

on smart ftp i got this error

webiterface access over browser,since that also not working,very strange,maybe i have now a difrent port,but where i find this information?
maybe port 21 is wrong,i copy settings lists in etc folder,and download from bluepanel ccam 2.0.9 since that it refused the conection!

when i conect over hdmi i have only violett and green picture together,no real colors cables are okay,maybe its a problem ,because my dell 24" does not support the copright bitflag
testet this with orginal image before i change the gimini!
all menüs are very slow,and it takes a lot of time when i save something,sounds like that the ram on dm 800 limited

with new revision i have no over heating problems now,tuner is i would say "very " cold,on old dm 800 was much hoter

no i must find other way,to flash image when ftp and browser acces stop working without any reason!
before i fashed with browser interface. i tryed to flash with dreamup,but i got no conection after serval attemts!

i do not have make any change,on my pc,logging in to dm 500 with same data works fine ,but dm 800 blocks now everything??
use iterface is on dhcp is off,when i would change this,all other fields disapears in menu!

i coped latest motor settings form the net with satelite xml to the /etc folder,but currencly i only see the satelites but not the channellist itselfs!

Is the FTP daemon running on the Dreambox? Can you ping it? can you access it using telnet?

Have you pulled out the power cable and tried again? Although you must have as you say "i tryed to flash with dreamup,but i got no conection after serval attemts!"

You need to add a channel list using DreamboxEdit e.g. PET123

yes,after 4 hours later,of testing,i find in the middle in the night,some unkown "details",that are very intresting!
flashing was okay,after more then 5 times cold reboot,and repluging,presing power button then when the ip was showing on screen the browser flash process works great!

on week signal i rcogneized,that i see not many artefacts,very soon the massage tuning not posible is coming,and now the real "funny" part,"my dm 800 did not find all channels on astra hotbird,for example premiere hd is complete missing also swiss hd, sex vie transponder etc,others works great,playing inside the menus setting to dvb s2 search in manual mode,does not help!

the lnb itself is okay,on other receivers,on orf hd transponder i have 14,5 db with gregory 1,25 so very strong but,now i have the strange feeling because,i have new alps tuner revision that,is not getting hot anymore,it seems to be,that the gimini enigma to driver,maybe not compatible??
could this posible?
on astra allone i only find 350 tv channels in the middle of the search,around 50% it stops
and find no channels until the search is finish
,but its not a 22 khz problem itself orf for e.g is working,relonding latest settings with the missing channels form blupannels,and tuning manualy also not helps,setting up lnb power etc...

at the moment i thiink that the new tuner revision could make,this not daily problem,but i cant say for sure,tomorow,i will flash orginal image back,then we see what happens,maybe then everything works fine,or there is other tuner driver avalible??
in cband all okay searching without any problems,but most of the freqencys in automatic search are completly wrong and old,and i have to tune manualy?

that i can go for sure,i have called the replace ment service,of the online store where i puchachesd the box,the fact,that i must replug power up to 10 times,that is starts is very strange,often it hangs on the dream multimedia logo ,after 2. plug it boots up fine!

so wath i should to,i will make more test,but at the moment,i will do a brak until tomorow,some times a think,all technical phenomes,are manefesting me

and one strange little detail at the end,of most transponders where is no signal,i see agc 99% signal and BER 0

maybe,my signal could also be to strong??
that the tuner is iritated?

I think it was a software bug that was fixed with the release of the v62 secondstage bootloader to stop overheating, which seemed to be a real problem for HD viewing. My own has only needed to be rebooted once due to overheating but lots of people reported the problem prior to v62 being released.

Image wise I found them all to be a bit buggy, Gemini 3.8 refused to move my dish, Nabilo was the most solid for me, and though its a bit long in the tooth now v0.4 is promised soon . Nabilo seem to take a bit longer to release their images but they seem to be thoroughly tested.

one question,again,before i flash to gimini i make over the browser interface a backup,of the orginal software,and i got the massage,that i it could make problems,when i send back this backup file,to the dm 800,sounds like a checksum problem or what ever,is it "better",when i upgrade it,over the menu option itself,or what is more secure!

on the other board *****,the write,that the heating problems resolved,from the bootloader,but how i can change them?
here a picutre,what the symsten information menu says about my hardware,maybe there is a difrent between each boxes?

on the net,i found 2 difrent nabilo images!

on one i read version rc1,
but on the barcode sticker under my dm 800 i only see the serial and the mac number,how can i detect,what is the right compatible image for my box?

looks,like i have 22 khz problem...
now i dont know it is hardware based or a driver problem..
no hd channels on astra.i need external gernator now cable lenth to my room only 30m..

in the meantime i find out,when i swtich in setup menu tonburst to "band" settings then 22 khz is working!
but the search is very very slow for hotbird aproximently 45 minutes,at the moment,i earased receiver settings before complete,i have the problem,that i search one satelite,then i select in tuner menu another, for example first 28,5..then hotbird,
then i want to start search,and it search,astra 2,instead of hotbird that i have selected before!

trying to setting up diseqec,will also always search on the wrong satelite and not that one,hat i have selected,on the input,where i have conected!
i donwload latest motor settings from the net,then i copy it to var/etc,but the channels and satelties,did not apreas in my channels list,all satelite xml,and bougets ,channels names,are in the same folder,maybe i have choice the wrong or there are some special settings necersary after ftp upload?
does nabilo have a faster channel serach then gimini?

I would do a factory reset and start again. Select simple set up and positioner, log in your coordinates and that should be it.
