My System: Dreambox 800 Nabilo Blackhole v1.0/250 Gig/ Dreambox 500s-(clone) PLi Jade/ Relook 400s 160 Gig-/SifTeam 1.93 e enigma Foretec 90cm Dish with Nikkai Diseqc Motor- 2 sky+ receivers fixed 28.2 east.

Being relatively new to this hobby there are probably things that others want from their box that I have not even heard of. I got my 800 in early September and so far its done everything that I wanted and expected from it and with new plugins being released frequently, even more than I expected.
Not having another HD box to compare it with I can only say that the audio an video via the dvi is superb on my tv. Compared to my Relook 400, SD channels are also better, and that is something as the Relook is pretty good in that department. The web interface is not as good as engima 1 in my opinion, quite fiddly and prone to crashing. I agree with Turok, I have not managed to complete a multi sat scan with any installed image, so I just ftp the latest settings to my box as and when they are updated. I have never had over heating problems but have used a usb fan from day 1.
I bought it to watch Sat tv and all the other litlle things are just extras for me. For watching sat tv I am very pleased, C/S works flawless and the only downside is it will not update my s*y card in the internal reader with cccam, so I use the relook to read the card and share to the 800. Future software development will have this boxes problems ironed out, of this I am confident.

Lol I remember that problem on my 5620, the first images weren't too clever with that either for some reason. I never use that function anyway, I prefer to do each sat when I feel like it.

never have the relook 400 s,there are to difrent version,on old blackbox that supports no blindscan, but the newer modell it does, now i try to connect my dm 800 over ccam with triple dragon but it does not work!

yes picutre quality is very good on dm 800,about the tuner sensity, relook also very good i heard, but dm 800 also okay, whould be say a little bit better, then dream 500,esapsely in the sound, when its squeaking,on low signal i would say dm 800,is better, here i here nothing, only little artefacts, and sound is okay,on dm 500 on the same signal not,but the si gnal barrier,on dm 800,i find lower, then on 500,it shows, the massage tuning not posible, earlier den dm 500,how is tuner sensitivy from relook 400 s versus dm 800?
there are also good, but i dont know what is better,i always looking for the most sensitve tuners,in hd stbs, homecast hs 5101,is currencly my favorite!

it "looks",like dm 800 and homecast ,have like a sound treshhold in audio,on low signal level!

My System: dm800, dm600 win xp

hi all

i've bought my 800 in may and have have seen my baby grow bit by bit... since. i have an HD ready plasma and the HD channels are awesome - i cannot see how they can improve more ... but they surely will

i also own a 600 and can easily say that there is a picture quality improvment on SD channels as well.

i would surely recommend this box, only competitor will be the 8000 but at a heftier price

regards

I, like You, don´t have it yet so You should give us a vote

Think that the IP box is a better choice but I am sure time will tell.

This hurry Up for HD is (if You ask me) nonsens. I can see what I need to see in any TV - I don´t really consider upgrading for a decad or so

I have had the 800 for about a month now and have to say I am more than happy with it.
It is the most stable Dreambox I have owned but then maybe I was right to wait for some of the early problems to be solved.

My System: AB IPBox 900HD, 80cm dish on rotator + Fortec Star Beta on a fixed dish

I'm thinking about getting a DM 800 but am also looking at the new AB IPBox 910HD / Cuberevo-3000HD (same thing with a different name)

I have loads of questions, but will try to keep it simple here.

Firstly, those that voted against the 800... Have you ever used Linux before you bought the box? I'm just wondering if a lack of Linux knowledge holds some people back. In my case, I've used Linux for 10 years and played with satellite TV for about 2 years, so the chance to mix both is irresistible!!! Although the sife won't be too pleased if I'm fiddling and wrecking the TV box all evening

Secondly, has anyone had the chance to compare the DM 800 with the current AB and Cuberevo HD boxes? Which one would they recommend?

I have DM800HD with 320Gb HDD, external USB Flash Dirve 2Gb and USB WiFi adapter D-Link G122. I can say it's a wonderful receiver with great support. A lot of images that I tested on it I choose the NewNigma2 team's one (ver.2.3 at this time), that I found the most perfect in my needs. The second in my clasification is the LT team images, and the Third one is Nabilo team images.
I recommend this receiver to everyone that expect a good picture and HD channels.

My System: DM800 running BH v11G2, 2 x Sky Minidishes with DiSEqC switch pointing at Astra 28.2E and Hotbird 13E

I only have mine a few days but my weekend has literally vanished using the DM800, theres just so many features and the support from this forum is first class - you can pick things up very quickly with a little reading.
I've been lucky enough to see card sharing working this weekend and its this feature that gives the DM800 its wow factor! Sitting in another room typing this up watching the sports channel stream in perfect quality into my laptop over 54mb wifi link.
A second tuner and this would be perfect!

I am very happy with mine.
I think that it is actually Enigma2 that is the best thing about it (I do not use the usb port not the hard drive.
When I try to use my dm600 & tm9101, I find e1 quite a drag.....
When dm come up with a cheaper e2 box (I cannot get e2 working on my dm600) I will go fully e2.

I have mine 800 since may2008, First few months I was totaly frustrated and annoyed by constant freezees, lockups and buggy software.
However as the months passed things got better and better. No more freezees and great pieces of images like nabilo.
Loving it atm.

Hi all,
I have had this Box since the begining.... and the only way to describe it is to say that its a great little marvel of a machine...sometimes even now when I stare at it....I cannot believe that it can bring to the Screen all those wonderful Images especially in True HD Formats, being so small.....I won't go into the merits of what it can do.....most of them have already been said by you....I just recomend this Box to anyone who really appreciate the art of great graphics.

Very happy with mine, running Blackhole.
I think the thing that makes it is the enigma2. It seems much more stable than my dm600. I tried to get e2 running oon the dm600 but gave up in the end.

Nice toy for me -
Of course pictures are well too.
Excelent support and many possibilites and features.
One problem with reboot for long time. I must wait some minute without power before boot the box again. Otherwise it do not boot at all with black display.
I have four dishes and I remained with one only in latest Gemini 4.4 Image because scaning problem. Maybe I will go back to old image where weather did not display forecast. OK it is life with any SW but I like the box!!

Can't really fault the box. It does everything that I expected it to.

I do wonder though - which genius designed a system capable of handling high definition 1080 video streams yet only fitted it with a 10/100 ethernet port?

.... and oddly enough I have exactly the same problem. Mine, however, needs an exact minimum of 17 secs without power before it will reboot again.

My System: 2xDM7025(DVB-S tuner), DM600SPVR, DM800S, TM9100, Triax 90cm with MultiBracket 4 sats.

Cons:
Compared to my other Dreamboxes it is very slow, in boot up, channel switching etc.
The picture quality is marginally better than the DM7025, but only marginally. But this is a feature of HD rather than the DM800.
It runs very hot, which is a worry as it might cook itself.
Poor price/performance compared to DM7025 and DM600.
Using a network drive to record movies is a non-starter as it criples your LAN.
Pro:
It is very small.
With Gemini 4.4 it is rock solid for what I use it for (watching TV).
It has much better connectivity than my DM600.

Overall:
I am not sure that the DM7025 is not a better proposition as it at least has twin tuners, for the same price (but only SD).
