Mounting a network drive on a DM800

I am trying to mount a network drive on a DM800 and I’m not having much success. I’m using the Nabilo mount wizard which says use CIFS for a PC drive so I’ve typed in the IP address and the name of the shared folder on the drive but it won’t mount. I’m not exactly sure whether I’ve specified the folder correctly.

Do you need to put in the drive letter? Or does the box just assume it’s the C drive. Do you need to put in any / or a : ? I’ve read that the folder needs to be called “movies” and there needs no be another folder called “movies” in that folder. How important is the username and password on an XP machine. I can map the folder on another XP machine without being prompted for a username and password.

I suppose streaming the data back will be equally challenging! Do I need to install VLC via the Nabilo plugins?

Thanks

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

The folder name and username/ password are case sensitive and the username/pwd must exist on the PC

The mount uses the shared folder name so it can be on any drive on the PC. That user also needs read write permission on the shared folder.

Can you show us a screenshot of your communication setup page (how-to is the Idiot's Guide)?

If your PC has an IP address of 191.168.0.11 and the shared folder is called movies, can you access \\192.168.0.11\movies on your PC when you type it into the address bar in Explorer (Windows not Internet)?

Ok seems to be mounted despite reporting some sort error. I can play files using the media player.

The main purpose was to record to the network drive but I can't see how to set it up. The record function keeps looking for a local drive.

A screenshot will help.

Open the event timer, scroll down to the location and press OK. Then just browse to your network mount and confirm the selection.

I don't get the location option in the event timer. I've seen screen shots from the Jade PLI image which show the option. I'm using Nabilo Black Hole V0.6, is there something else I need to do?

Go to MENU>SETUP>SYSTEM>CUSTOMIZE and enable Expert Setup Mode. That is all. It will enable some additional features, including the possibility to choose the location for event timers.

Ok, I get the location option then /hdd/movies in as a book mark and two folders are shown underneath the network mount and the flash drive but I cannot step down to them to select them. This is like pulling teeth.

Move the cursor to the location field, and press OK. Then you will be able to browse your DM folders.

I think there is something wrong I cannot select either the network mount or the usb drive. The only thing I can do is delete the bookmark /hdd/movies. The nav keys don't let me step down to the folders.
