Hai there. I use a Dreambox 800 HD pvr \ gp2 gemini project release 0410 image 2009-02-06 enigma 2009-02-06 cccam version 2.0.11 I cant acces my dreambox cause its pass protected so i wont be able to add new files or backup my system and never ever learn the dreambox in and out if i cant acces at all. I wanna try new images and stuff so i need a backup in case everything goes wrong. I just want too acces on my ftp and i cant do that now. Ive read about tuxcommander and how to bypass the password but when i acces the var/etc/passwd i cant insert a new file cause when i press 4 on the remote nothin happens am i doing something wrong? It sais:Insert a new line after this first root (etc etc etc) and write this (replace <name_user> with a user eg. ****) And ther are two sections also passwd. and passwd without the dot in var/etc/passwd Wich one do i use. Again when i press 4 nothing happens ![]() I also tried the cmd / telnet option but that doesnt work either i dont have the pass....(you need too allready have a password to change a password) Most important in all of this is that some channels (i wont mention here) are choppy they stop like every 5 sec so what i read about that is that you need a fix network Scam and i got one allready but i cant put it in my files cause it wont let my dreambox acces on to ftp. Maybe its the image i am using i dont know but when i cant acces on my ftp ill never know what to do and how to fix problems. And for the new files and patches that are released i cant do nothing also. This is really frustating to me i understand that some people try to hack in and do some shitty stuff i am not one of them i just need to update my files and use patches when i want too. Learn about the dreambox and learn from mistakes my hands are tied now. Any help on this pls? tia.

My System: DM 600-S, AB IPBox 9000HD, Moteck SG2100, Fracarro Penta 85 dish, + some puters | Have a look here. Reset Root Password, Plugin This may work for you, Use at your own risk. I'm not sure but enigma 2 may be using shadow passwords, If this is the case it wont work, make sure you swap back the old passwd file when you are finished. If shadow passwords are not in use then you should be fine. Maybe an Enigma2 user can confirm whether or not shadows are being used? You'll know by how the passwd file is formatted. Code: root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash Code: root:$1$27884277sh7p2JOuF4S25e4SfEe5:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash

My System: Penta 85 Alloy Dish Moteck SG2100 motor dm800HD Receiver DM500s Receiver also Gemini 90 Dish Stab HH120 Motor Smart Titanium LNB | OK I understand ........but of course that means that you are a slave to the guy who sold you the box. Another question though, and Im not sure this makes any difference............. but are you sure the box is genuine?

My System: Penta 85 Alloy Dish Moteck SG2100 motor dm800HD Receiver DM500s Receiver also Gemini 90 Dish Stab HH120 Motor Smart Titanium LNB | OK Looking around the WWW it looks like the easy way to reset the password is to simply reflash it. That would make sense as I can access the boxes firmware update page without a username or password, but of course then you would loose all your settings which I guess you probably dont want.

My System: Penta 85 Alloy Dish Moteck SG2100 motor dm800HD Receiver DM500s Receiver also Gemini 90 Dish Stab HH120 Motor Smart Titanium LNB | OK WIFI Give what Compufunk says a go but personally I think you have to choose what you want. If you want access to everything that is setup on the box now you cannot change anything. You asked to be able to change images and play with your dreambox which you already know you can do by reflashing the box and yet you want everything you have also. The guy wont give you the password because you will be able to see his server details. So you have to choose what you want. Sorry to be blunt but thats the bottom line. Also consider that as the guy has your username and password he can see everything on your PC maybe?

My System: DM 600-S, AB IPBox 9000HD, Moteck SG2100, Fracarro Penta 85 dish, + some puters | There are things you may want to do with your dreambox which require root privileges, like creating/modifing bouquets in DreamboxEdit. The whole point of the password switcher script is so that you can make any changes you need, then switch back to the old passwd file so that if the original installer needs to log in, they can still use their old login details.
