Help needed, flashing image to box not finished after nearly 2 hours

I have flashed a Nabilosat image for the DM800 to my DM8000 by mistake.

I am now trying to flash it again using the original image the DMM web site using Universal DreamUP v1.3.3.4

The log shows
09:55:59 box type: DM8000
09:58:28 Calculating checksum...
09:58:30 Uploading file to box...
11:07:56 box is flashing from its memory...

but it is showing no progress now and appears to have frozen without starting.

Any help please,
Regards,
Meagain123

Don't really know your problem there, never had to flash over RS232 with Dreamup thankfully.

Maybe you need an .nfi image with the latest second stage loader if the one you're trying to flash has an earlier one?

Hi Llew,

NabiloBlackHole_DM8000_08.nfi is the file I'm trying to flash. This is my second attempt and it's frozen at the same point again.

I will try the box connected to the set and see what happens, I did back up to the hdd prior to starting.

What other methods of flashing images are there as I'm totally new to dbs.

Thanks for your reply,
Regards

Easiest method is using your browser (provided your network is set up OK). Works for the DM8000 as well.

Hi Llew,

Thanks for the information. I have my networking running and can connect to the box by using it's IP address and change channels from the channel list that appears.

When I power down the box and restart it whilst holding down the power button I do not get the "STOP" message it just starts as normal
do you have any suggestions.

Not the power button - the bottom one of two to the left of the LCD display. You then get the 'stop' in the display.

hi Llew
i had a similar problem getting to flash my box for the very first time.

in my case my network wasn't working and so the box could not be updated via the browser. (to check if your network is working make sure that you have a light next to the internet cable at the back of your 8000).

i tried to use the null cable modem but it still did not work. i finally managed with a pl2303 usb to rs232 adapter together with a null cable modem and dreamup 1334.

hope this helps

Thanks for the info. it works fine. The guide 'Flash Your DM800 - The Easy Way' needs updating for the DM8000. It is the Channel up/down lower button, not the power button to get the 'stop' in the display.

Thanks for all your help.
Best wishes,

Dreambox 8000 nightmare

HI

Sorry to tune in late to your post but I just got the above receiver and it is driving me nuts.

It has worked for about an hour then I tried to flash a new image and now 4 days later I am stuck.

I am using serial to usb and also tried the web interface but no joy.

Can you tell me the actual make of the serial to usb you are using?

regards
Fraz

Hi,
I would try and get your network working then use method in 'Flash Your DM800 - The Easy Way'. It is the Channel up/down lower button, not the power button to get the 'stop' in the display and the web address for your box. It is quick & easy once it's working.

Hi

One and only way I got it to work was by connecting a crossover cable directly to my PC.
