Stream Dreambox to iphone??

I have been thinking for quite sometime now bout my dreambox 8000, and streaming the channels and i got me thinking, with these new iphones having internet and wifi, can this be done??, if your thinking, 'whats he banging on about' well...

say I got an iphone, would i be able to access my dreambox 8000 and view channels via internet/wifi when i'm out and about?? providing i'm in a wifi hotspot area, cos with the weather being great at the minute, wouldn't it be great to be sat in a pub (with wifi/internet access) with a nice refreshing pint in your hand and viewing whatever channel you like on your iphone...

or is this all pretty much science fiction at this moment in time??

Yes mate its possible, I've done it. Your iphone will need to be jailbroken and you'll need to install VLC4iphone from Cydia.

Setup your stream from your PC as you would normally then enter the URL details into the iphone and bingo. As far as I can see you cannot stream directly from the DM to the iphone, it must go via your PC also running VLC. Although doing it directly is pretty much impossible anyway because of the iphone's tiny bandwidth capability.

Yes.

At current speeds. The stream needs to be compressed before sending out over the net.
