Apart from the moon, geostationary satellites and low earth orbit (LEOs) paraphernalia, our Earth has a number of items orbiting. One has no real background and has been puzzling scientists for a few days, another has been named Cruithne and is in somewhat in an eccentric orbit, owing to the effects of the moon on the object. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/2251386.stm And there are quite a few others http://www.astro.queensu.ca/~wiegert/3753/3753.html

Scientists have always believed the process of life on earth must have occurred using pollenation from outside sources, bringing another in contact with us could have some undesireable consequences.

| I think this object left Earth orbit after about 1 1/2 years. While there are plenty of cranks who believed it to be an alien spacecraft, the most likely explanation is here. http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news136.html | ||
