For live coverage and background to the events this week http://www.esa.int/SPECIALS/Mars_Express/ I love the 'technology' behind the release mechanism of the lander craft from mothership A bit of blue touchpaper wrapped around a big spring.

| Alls gone really smoothly so far, but the real reason is low cost, which is why its got such a low profile The next six days are the most important, Beagle headbutts Mars on Christmas Day

| Next active date seems to be the 5th January when Mars Express is in the vicinity of the lander. Apparently Beagle 2 is now able to send multiple messages each hour, the best time (closest approach to the site) is around mid day on the 7th
