Hi

im new to this and currently have sky hd installed, my contract is up in the new year and im then looking to install a motorised setup

My main questions are though, as my house isnt south facing and the south facing wall is blocked by another how as is the north, how would i go about mounting my dish ? a house a few streets up has one in there back garden on a stand of some sort ? how big would the dish need to be to recieve a load of channe bare in mind im in south yorkshire on top of a hill if that makes any difference ?

What channels am i likely to recieve? how do i recieve football ? movies ? music channels ?

I've read the guides and various threads and cant seem to find any info relating to my problems

Also does anyone recommend any sites/stores to buy all the equipment from ?

Thanks:-worship
I also have with my sky package a multiroom subscription to 2 other rooms both being bedrooms, am i still able to do this with the motorised setup ? can i watch different channels in all 3 rooms ?

How do i go about recieving hd channels ? i assume this is down to the reciever ?

Where it comes into house there is a junction box with coax cables going in different directions to other rooms and somewhere connected to aerial. So if i were to connect another cable from lnb into this box would i in fact have a satellite signal in other rooms, would there be a great loss of signal and if so what could i do to minimise it.

Been living in Germany, nearly 7 years and have decided Ive had enough of German telly, especially PayTv. (Sky Deutschland) So I have decided to, when we move to our new place start of the new year, to have MY Satellite Dish installed so, that I can watch free Uk channels, with view to a full Sky uk Subscription when my current contract with Sky Germany runs out, +- 9 months.
By now Ive already purchased a few things like the Sky Pvr box, 2/1 DiSEqC Switch for my Humax receiver so I can pick up the free uk and Germany channels.

I have a 85cm Triax dish (Live on the outskirts of Cologne) and need advice for the following:

* What would be the best Multifeed holder for it, since I eventually want to add a LNB for 16°E, so that I can take out a sub for Digitalb (for their variety of footy leagues) Since Im not sure if other makes of multifeed holders are compatible with Triax dishes

* Should I buy one of those packages on Ebay which includes Quad Lnb/Cable(10,25,20m)/F connectors/clips or should I just buy cable in bulk 50m or so and buy everything else seperate?

* Since I will be living in a three storey house, the roof is quite high and I wanted to know, could an installer already set up the 16°E LNB feed even though I dont have the Digitalb set up yet?Because I want to have the guy do as much in one call out, instead of having to make another call out, cause I know it will be pricey when it comes to labour since they have to climb quite high to get to the roof.

Thanks in advance :-worship

Hi all, hope this is the best place to post this. I've done a bit of reading on here and i think i've settled on a setup. Background story is... after much thought and harrassment by other half we're gonna get a telly with HD. With sky's phone/broadband/HD bundle its working out about £39 per month which is only about £7 per month more than my current phone/broadband. Now the thought of picking up a lot of FTA euro channels wether HD or not appeals to me.

So, do i need to a) get a motorised dish at about 900mm and HD receiver?. b) Will the motorised dish be able to supply both the sky box and the motorised receiver? c) should i let the sky installer do his thing and then remove there dish and put up new one or would they do it for me as a private extra? d) what would be a reasonable HD motorised sat receiver for someone who would just like to hit a button and be done? e) if i was supplying all the stuff for an installer to fit assuming i had 1xsky HD box and 1xmotorised HD receiver running of 1x900mm motorised dish what else would i need? Sorry if these are all obvious but i haven't gotta clue and am needing pointed in the right direction ( no pun intended:)

Good afternoon,

I have a Vision II single LNB satellite system- mounted on a motorhome. Because I travel into Southern Spain, and plan to go into Greece, the existing fixed skew means I lose the signal in the South of France.

I would like to upgrade the existing system to add the Oyster Auto-Skew LNB modification, but am a bit confused...

Please anybody advise if this is feasible, and if so, do you know where I could have this modification undertaken?

Is it simply a case of replace the existing LNB with the automatic one - or are their more complex things to consider?

Lastly, does anybody know who could carry out the modification?

I live in Cumbria
Many thanks
I have been setting up my system as many of you know for the past few weeks now and i have it working fairly well (thanks to all the help from some members) untill we get to evening when all the good channels break up:mad:

I am at the moment waiting for a pace 2600c1 to arrive from uk via a well known auction site( no names this time tivu, i am learning). I am unwilling to fiddle with the setup untill the box arrives but was thinking it would be good to maybe illicit the help of someone close by with a field meter. If anyone could help i would be very appreciative or maybe p.m someone you know who lives nearby to join this thread i believe embalse lives near me but i have no way of contacting him or others on through this thread. Many thanks.............Philly

As a footnote this setup has lasted longer than my first marriage:-rofl2

I bought a fortec star freesat kit from maplin and have installed this on the side of a block of flats i live in next to a sky dish. I have pointed it in the same direction as the sky dish, yet I don't get a signal.
I have bought a satellite finder and this beeps in the direction I have it facing, however on the receiver, I get signal strength of 45% and signal quality of 5% where ever the dish is pointing. This is the second LNB and receiver as I returned the originals with the same issue thinking they were faulty.
I get a signal strength of 2% if I unplug from the LNB, and when plugged in, even if pointing at the floor I get 45%

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong as I'm on the fringe area for freeview so currently only get bbc 1, 2, 3 and news through my aerial, and more channels would be nice.

Cheers,
