Hi to all and first of all thanks for a great forum. It makes such a difference for novices like me...

I moved to just outside Seville from Barcelona two months ago. I brought down with my my Pace Sky+HD box from there, where I'd had Sky without any problems for ten years, registered at my sister's in the UK. I couldn't find an English installer down here until it was too late and what a headache it's been. First a local guy couldn't get a signal, the signal kept coming and going and then the second guy only could after I changed the default transponder through the installation menu to one I'd found on lnygsat.com: 10.744, H, 22.0 & 5/6 (fluke) with exactly the same setup. Then only on one input but after looking around on the internet I managed to solve that too. (Record on one channel, change channels and it 're-activated' input 2).

The problem now is that I still can't get some channels ("No Satellite Signal being Received" message). What's really baffling me is that my input 1 and 2 signal strengths are 100% and both signal qualities 90%. I wasn't getting that up in Barcelona even, and I never had any reception problems there at all on any channels. The LNB is a twin 'Shop' make, 0.1. Dish is 1.35cms.

Has anyone idea what it might be or anything I could try? is there another default transponder that would work? The crazy thing is when I select the channels I can't get (Sky Sports News, Extra, UK Eurosport 2 and others all on the same transponder: 12148 H) the input 1 signal and quality shows nothing, but the input 2 is still 100%/90%!

All the UK installers are based over two hours away in Málaga, so it would cost a lot to get them up here when I've already paid a lot for the setup - plus I imagine it would only take 15 minutes to sort, or less...

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you very much in advance to anyone who replies!

Mike.

Hi,

Not sure If this thread is in the right place but...

I wonder if you guys can help me. I may be moving to Helsinki and living in the Espoo area.

From what I have read it seems that it is possible to receive UK Sky TV in that area.

Although what is unclear is how I would go about organizing this for example, I have a sky box I use it in the UK currently. However...

-How do I get hold of a valid Sky card and subscription?

-I take it that I do not go through Sky directly?

Also I see that i may well need a larger dish,
-What sort of price range could I expect for this?

Hope you can help
A.

I was wondering and hoping that someone could shed any light on this.

I have a 3.7m prime focus dish from DH with an Invacom c120 quad and universal feedhorn. Until recently I was getting the 2D Horizontals 24/7 and the Verticals most of the time. Recently the signal has been breaking up late at night. Have replaced the LNB and then reset skew and focal length etc (however only had a generic receiver to check strength/quality as sat meter not working.
Generic receiver showed 35-40 quality and ss of 60ish.
Noticed feed horn was bit corroded and does have a small flat on the outer rim of about 2cm long (may have been there some time though...perhaps installer dropped it). Scraped the horn clean a little but no improvement. Do not have a replacement feedhorn at present so any hints as to how to try to get the signal up a little.

So far have adjusted skew, moved feedhorn around in mount to see if it is lined up centrally and tried altering focus length by up to 20mm in and out.

Have pulled on the tensioning wires etc to see if it made even a slight difference.....nothing.

The skew for 2D is -19° Elevation 35.3° ( for barcelona)
Didn't look to see what the skew and elevation of H/B is..but it works.
I suppose I could check all this out myself with a meter thingy..but I've lost it and will have to buy another one next week.

Hi there,

I have a couple of questions regarding watching Sky abroad that I was hoping you could help me with.

My fiancee is Cypriot and her family currently live in Larnaca. They wanted to know if we could get a Sky Multiroom subscription here in the UK, and send them over one of our new cards. So effectively with the Sky multiroom subuscription we'll be using one of the cards for our Sky+ box here in the UK and her family will be using the other card with their existing standard Sky box in Larnaca.

Would this setup work? Could I just send them over the new card and they could put it into their Sky box without any issues? Does the card need to be paired to a specific box?

They used to be able to watch Sky, so I know they have the appropriate dishes / signal reception etc.

Are there any other implications / issues that I should be aware of?

Many thanks in advance.
