Any tips on sourcing a Fibo 55cm?

I moved from the UK to Switzerland a couple years ago and have had to suffer being connected to cable ever since, with no prospect of being able to put up a dish . . . until now!

I would have loved to bring my 90cm with me, but it will stay put as it's just too damn big for my balcony in Zürich.

So, I'm in the market for a 55cm and I gather these bad boys are a little difficult to get hold of.

Apart from the standard practice of regularly checking Ebay and the classifieds here, is there anything else I should be doing?

Are there any good alternatives anyone can recommend?

Hi Rav

Seems like you have most of the bases covered.
You could try this link and buy a new one in Germany
Hope this helps

Thanks, dorsetbob.

Didn't realise they were still being sold new!

€209 is a bit on the steep side, but it does give me a chance to practice my extremely ropey German on them.

Thanks for the offer Turok; you have a PM.

I would also be interested in one in the UK as I'm there every other weekend.

Ok, now I'm confused!

I installed my Fibo 90cm with the fixed (AZ/EL) mount it came with to a DiSEqC motor.

I want to do the same with the 55cm, so would I need this same AZ/EL mount to connect a 55cm to a DiSEqC motor?

Am I right in saying that the polar mount cannot be connected to a DiSEqC motor?

Sorry if I'm asking simple questions, but it's been a few years since I did my installation and have been on this forum, so have to learn everything again!

Hi

The original fibo polar mounts use a 36v motor, but can be modded to use a diseqc motor(see mods in owners club)
If you use the fixed mount bracket as you have before you can fix a diseqc motor straight to it.
Hope that clears things up.

My System: 75e-75w C & KU, 36v h-h /36v & diseqc actuators / diseqc -USALS motors / Anlg to HD Channel Masters C120s dishes, stb's inc echo3000, lnbs, meters, custom polar mounts & elevation/incline actuator conversions...

you can connect just about anything to a diseqc motor - no need for a special az/el but you may need to modify a small dish mount because it may be too small to fit on the motor arm....

a polar mount on a diseqc motor would be really good for a photo though.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up guys.

So, I can do what forum member CROSSBONES has done here, except that I will be mounting to the DiSEqC motor instead of a fixed pole.

Turok, does the back of your dish have the same fixing as in the picture in the link above?

iam using this system, like discribe,in the other post, for my fibo 90 cm,for fibo 55 cm i have only the anenna alone!
but espasaly in zürich, here are many profesional satelite installers, that can help you!

in austria,we have not many experts anymore, the only want to sell, normall astra dishes, for high prices !
in switzerland, its complitly difrents, but the prices are also (much) higher

would say, higher then in the uk,or maybe the same i dont know, because i dont have an accord, between the 2 countrys!"
some say, london is the most expensive city in the world, behind tokyo
others say oslo,or maybe zürich, expasly in food prices, switerland is very expensice, but offers real good quality,i often go to migro stores, but the assortment, here is much higher now!
when austria, was not member of eu,all go to switzerland shoping, now its difrents, the all come to us,and the good think, the get the complete taxes 20% redund!!

Rav

Which ever dish or mount you end up purchasing there is someone in this forum who will have the knowledge to assist you with the installation.
