My own idea first posted on Digital-Spy.

How about we have a permant section for temporary or full time FTA channels that have English content.

Cheers.

Hey fellow Daily Show fan!

I didn't know that the 5e feed of Leno did anything other than show a test card. I never thought to stay up (or press record on the PVR)! Oh hang on, it's not the channel labelled something like "J Leno feed" then? It's called Customer Networks?

Hey Skip!

CNBC J Leno hasnt been used for Leno for sometime ive been told.

It is weird there is a channel labeled that, but nope no NBC late night shows on that feed anymore.

Customer Networks was airing AXN Germany for some time FTA the other day its a wild one for sure.

Cheers remplap!

NBC (or whoever is responsible, Arqiva prehaps?) seem to be a little like a certain Portugese DTH operator with their poor housekeeping skills!

I'll have to swing me dish around to 5e later and check out Customer Networks! Last night I had the dish at 15w but the best I could do was get those Chinese and US-Iranian channels again plus two SCPC channels BYU TV and another US-Iranian one (only because they're 1/2 FEC!)

Back on topic...

BYU isn't just religious stuff, they show college sport involving the university (they were playing some game last night - field hockey or lacross or something - I couldn't make it out as it was in a blizzard!) and it looks like they show a couple of PBS programmes (but nothing good!)

And "New Channel" was showing "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" FTA in english and with english subtitles. Picture and sound quality was atrocious though!

My System: Pace 2200 Sky digibox with ftv card, Comag SL65 FTA sat receiver, 40cm Sky minidish, Setpal terrestrial receiver (for free uk tv only!).

Yes, both Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien on CNBC (Astra1) are great fun! Especially Conan's ongoing Finland stuff ....

( www.finlandforthought.net/?p=1072;

www.conan-obrien.net/finlandtrip.html ).

Another fave channel of mine is Arte, French version, which often shows good Brit/USA movies with English soundtrack (French subtitles). On Astra1 19deg, sorry I can't be bothered to look that up, but of course it's on www.satcodx.com .

15w is really worth blind scanning often shame I dont have a reciever that can do it.

NBC Feed is bloody hard to get DAD-2 is a pest, a little tip ive found is removing the dish cable and putting it back in, it then get a signal.

BYU indeed does have some sports, mostly BYU produced programing, thats probably been made for the PBS Network if anything other than the Mormon Preaching.

NEW CHANNEL had the last samurai on it the other week in the same old setup.

Ah well

Well, I normally stick to Astra1, from which it is very easy to get all transponders, even on a 40cm minidish!

MTV Main has a fair bit of English programmes (German subtitled).

Travel Channel very good (also on Astra2, of course).

Liberty TV and Terra Nova also do good (non English) travel stuff.

Obviously, anything "visual" is fine, language then being no barrier. So Just For Laughs (is that Super RTL, or RTL2?), being visual tricks played on unsuspecting public. Same channel also shows Dom Jolly, dubbed into German. Any film that's mainly special effects is ok, I saw Matrix Reloaded in German, which didn't matter a bit ....

The Astra1 free German channels between them have lots of sports, all types of music, dance, films etc, much more than anyone can possibly watch .....

There's occasionally (French) cabaret and (German) circus, and some German channels have the odd "oompah beer evening", rather puzzling stuff!

During the recent Mozart celebrations, I managed to see most of his operas for free. Great stuff, now getting very rare on British TV.

Sometimes I tune into RAI1 on Astra1, look at the films listing, then turn dish towards Hotbird if there's something especially good. The older James Bond films are all enjoyable, in German or Italian!

How long has the TV 3 Eesti feed been active? I was looking for that in January... anyway let's hope it stays active for a while yet (I guess it's just a test-feed).

Regarding "blind scanning" do you have any hints on computer software to do it, because I don't believe the Dreambox can?

Early Feburary TV 3 Eesti appeared.

Im guessing it is not a test feed, they changed transponders that would probably mean they were going to encrypt it.
