Again?! Arghhh! Life is too short. If it is going to take 2 days to get each HD channel working I think I might take the coward's way out and buy a Freesat HD box, especially a PVR. But not until the price drops and a few more HD channels come on stream.

Ratchet to the rescue!

Well it shouldn't take two days next time, we may just need Ratchet's wisdom! (And channel list!!!)

Actually, question I been meaning to ask, which is probably better placed somewhere else, when I have BBC HD running through my amp, the Dolby indicator is lit and my amp seems to automatically kick in the 5.1 and it sounds fairly decent as well. Is BBC HD broadcasting in that then? (My amp doesn't do this for any other channel)

Let's hope not. But if there are rights issues for future FTA HD channels that require restricting to UK viewers then it may be inevitable. With no encryption to restrict access and no room on Astra 2D then it may be necessary to restrict access along the lines of the ITV HD method.

Kyle
BBC HD does indeed broadcast 5.1 as does Luxe TV HD. Not sure if Ch4 HD does 5.1 for some programs but at the moment the racing is Dolby PL. The ITV HD test is also Dolby PL.

These channels should be easy to get back though. Just delete them and rescan the frequency.

Just a quick one how come we get ITVHD on the Passion but the specs in the book only refer to MPEG2 MP@HL, MPEG AVC/H.264, HP@L4

Yet other people are saying that ITVHD can only be seen on boxes that support H.222 data rather than using the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec
??????

That's a good point actually. Not sure who / what the source was for the H.222 codec story about ITV HD. Either it's not the case and ITV are doing something else to knock out existing HD boxes or the Passion does indeed support this codec. Remember the manual for the Passion was written to compliment the earliest firmware release. There have been quite a few firmware updates since this box was launched - maybe H.222 was sneaked in un-announced ?

For anyone still having problems with the FortecStar Passion theres a new firmware update available.

User RamsFan posted this over at the TW forum earlier:

A new firmware update is now available for the Fortec Star Passion HD box, and i can confirm, that ITV HD works perfectly through it now.

Just installed it myself, used the advanced scan options within the new update, and ITV HD works perfect with sound and picture. So happy now!

That's beta firmware that hasn't been released yet (as at 12th May on Laural's site.)

You can download it via the link from Laural's site.

It's v.112+1 - not the version presently on Laural's site ( at this time, the 10th May version).

I can confirm that it works since it was released yesterday.

As it's still 'unofficial', have regard to the rules posted by Laural at sataid - not to be uploaded onto other sites.

The new Passion HD firmware that supports ITV HD is now officially available on the Fortec Star site.

_http://www.fortecstar.com/downloads/index.asp?products=101%2C1

EDIT - Ignore the incorrect date beside the new firmware ver 112, this referred to an older release.

My System: Technomate 1500CI+, Comag SL55 and Skystar2 on a 104 cm motorized dish and Humax HDCI200 on 90 cm motorized dish.

Is it true that the Humax HDCI-2000 now views ITVHD as mentioned by Analoguesat on Digitalspy?

Cheers

Yes, follow these steps....

Press 'Menu/Exit' on the remote.
Scroll to the right for 'System Setting'
Scroll down to 'Other Settings' and press OK
Scroll down to 'System Information' and press OK

You should now see displayed your Loader Version, Software Version and Software Date.

SeteditPassion save problem

I got a reply fom Wolfgang Litzinger about the HD save problem with SeteditPassion.
>Please use the attached version, I changed now form a "HD >Flag" to a service type. This is closer to the original >settings format.

>Note: you have to use at least built 124 of the main exe >file.

He attached a zip folder with a new SeteditPassion.dll file in it. I haven't had time to check it works yet but it looks like the problem is fixed.

Unfortunately I'm not able to attach either a .zip or a .dll to this forum message but I guess if Wolfgang hasn't made it available on the Setedit web site yet he'll send you it if you drop him an email. Or let me have your email address off board.

Paul, you need to have been a forum member for about a month I believe before you can PM other members.

You can use the Vcard facility instead (enable it in your profile).

Hi LLew

Thanks and apologies for breaking the rules by posting an email address. The problem is solved because I emailed Wolfgang and asked him to make the dll available publicly. I just got this reply

>I have put this version now on my homepage, please not not to go on the
>download site, but on the Passion site.

_http://www.setedit.de/startup_d.html

I presume then this is version 1.02? If it is telling Wolfgang about the HD save problem got us all a new version number very quickly:-) That's impressive support. I'd encourage everyone to register Setedit if you haven't already. It's very important to encourage shareware authors like Wolfgang. AFAIK Setedit is the only channel editor for the Fortec Passion?

Cheers

Paul

Don't know of any other editors, we had to wait a fair time after the Passion's inception for Fortecstar and Wolfgang's co-operation in bringing out a free version of Setedit, for which we were eternally grateful!

Good result anyway paul, will give it a try.

Went to ITV HD and today (since 1130 when i turned it on ), the HD chan is showing 'This Morning'. although with no logos in the top left corner to show HD or even ITV. The picture quality is V good, Passion shows it as a HD transmission.......adverts look good too
