Question Can't find Astra 28.2e with Satfinder.

Hi all,

I'm currently trying to install a Passion+ system from Maplin; I've bought a Satfinder, but I'm still having problems.

I'm in Kent, and I've got the dish pointed in the same direction as other Sky dishes etc. and, after some careful adjustment, I'm even getting a loud beep from the finder, but still no picture shows up.

Is there something I'm missing?

Are there any general clues or tips that would help me locate Astra 28.8 with the finder?

Any particular way to be sure I'm not getting a beep from another Sat.?

Thanks for the help,

Greg N.

Thank you.

I wonder if I could have messed up any of the settings by accident?

Would a factory reset fix any such issues?

Thank you again for the reply, much appreciated.

I do not really know the stb but there are threads on the forum dedicated to the passion

No a factory reset would not help IMHO also doing that would lose you any existing information re channels and settings unless you backed them up first. I suspect you are just not on 28East, can you not borrow an existing sky box from a friend and check that you can receive sky? There is a thread about this problem I will have a look for it

edit here it is

there is an lnb skew problem if using a FCKUVN lnb supplied by Maplins
Have a read about it

That's great Topper; thank you again for the invaluable advice.

I'll be sure to keep you updated with my progress (as soon as I have some )

I do have access to a standard Sky Box (non HD) so if I hook that up will it show if I'm pointing at the right Satellite?

Thanks again.

Ok

I wish you success, let us know, just out of curiosity is it that strange lnb the FCKUVN that you have that I gave you the link to?

My System: Non yet!
Have u found it yet?

I know I could be "teaching Grandmother to suck eggs" but I've just had a similar problem.

I was sure the dish was set up more or less ok by using a compass and looking at a neighbours elevation, but just couldn't get it to work, with the sat finder not showing a signal either.

Eventually I discovered thru reading just about everything on this site (....I am a newbie...and a bit slow......make an allowance..) that it was very possible that I'd cut the inner copper core too short to make a good connection. I re-checked this and made sure all my connections were perfect and then found everything worked OK, with the Sat finder screaming at me from the moment I turned the box on and power reached the lnb!

Good luck
