There are 6 C4's on 10714H, 5 of them have dropped the encryption flag and are totally fta. One still has the encryption flag set

No encryption flag meaning FTA on a Sly box

I guess the 'freesat' version 8350 tag for ch4 on 10.729 will disappear soon A/S ??

My System: Portland DP100 STB, Asus Tiger Hybrid + Kworld DBT100 + Skystar 2 HTPC

Film4 & Film4+1 think have been FTA since they went on freeview, certainly since I've had satellite (about 2 years). Channel 4 (well the new one), more4, more4+1, E4 & E4+1 went FTA a couple of days before the launch of freesat, despite the +1's not yet being on the freesat EPG.

They've been playing around with this transponder 10714H for a couple of weeks, but it seems to have settled down and I think Sky is now using it, but freesat is not. There has been much speculation, freesat is surely get the C4 regions from this, but it is not clear when or where C4+1's will go, the freed space on 10729 some people think five is going there soon, others (wishfully) believe C4HD is going to go FTA.

Possibly, BUT a 2D transponder will have to be cleared out first. So if / when we see some big frequency swicharounds then its reasonable to suspect C4 +1 is coming.

Its possible 8350 may become a fta version of C5.....

My System: Fixed reception from: *28*19*13*9 *Panasonic TUDSB40* *Topfield 5000 PVR* *Humax HD1000* *FTV card* *T-Rex 4.6 Supermodule* *Dragon Light* *ADSL 8Mbps*

Any idea as to why they keep a version of C4 on Astra 2A encrypted ?

Are they going to follow ITV1's decision to keep a few of the regional versions encypted on a pan-European beam ?

Its probably the Irish version - there are rights issues involved in transmitting C4 to ireland - some progs are blacked out

My System: Triple Dragon with a Steerable 1 metre Dish with & Diablo wireless & Dragon cam ver 3 & 4 card a matrix rev a cas3 and a load more stuff the wife doesn't know I bought.

It's about time it was fta, seems silly to be encrytpted but when they signed the contract so many years ago no one knew what was around the corner.
There is so much fta or ftv now that it's questionable if it's better than anything else on offer (unoffically) and lets face it with no hassle
