Question 4Music ???

Hello.

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I guessed it should be in the Freeview section.

I have been watching advertisements for 4music on C4 for some time now, stating that it would launch on Freeview 18 (among others) on Friday 15th of August at 7:00p.m.

I have scanned for this channel on my system and cannot find it.

My question is - if it is on freeview 18, should I not be capable of viewing it on my FTA box ?

Are Freeview & FTA not the same thing ? (Ooops! that's 2 questions)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mmmm

Well I cannot answer your query however you are mixing up your terminologies hence your post appears confusing.

Freesat is FTA satellite transmission

Freeview is terrestrial FTA transmission

4 Music is a rebrand of 'The HITS'. It is free to air on digital terrestrial (Freeview) on Ch 18. It remains a pay TV channel on satellite and requires a Sky sub to the Music package.

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 5 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/13E/16E /19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

4Music on satellite is scrambled as part of the music mix on Sky. This is because its nothing more than a rebrand for The Hits which is governed by an existing scrambling agreement.

4M will stay scrambled until either the agreement ends, or C4 find a way out of it.
