My System: 1.1cm Triax eliptical dish to a Jaeger 36v motor. A V box Mk2 positioner to a TM 1500CI Multicrypt decoder.
Most people haven't a clue about Freesat

What I feel "uptight" about is most people haven't a clue about Freesat or even Freeview. They have been "brainwashed" by all the S** adverts and media coverage. When I explain all you need is a dish and decoder...I get a reaction of, "Will I get into trouble if S** find out?". The very fact that I'm using ** to blank out the word demonstrates "the fear" of retribution. Just my opinion of course.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

Well I'm afraid that anyone who doesn't know about Freeview must have their head in a bucket, as it is constantly advertised on BBC and ITV.

Regarding Freesat and thier lack of identity/exposure, that is the fault of Freesat, not Sky or their dominance. Freesat was launched (if that's what you could call it) as partially operating package, with a lack of available equipment and no support from the independent installers, who had been totally left out of the loop, with no access to equipment.

Launching a product via three big retailers, whose staff are renowned for their lack of individual product knowledge, is not a recipe for meteoric success.

PS. moved this post from the information thread, as it really has nothing to do with new channels appearing.

My System: Technomate 9100 and 90cm dish motorised

Hello I agree with the OP. I bet if I were to ask 5 people at work what Freesat is and how to get it they wouldn't have a clue. The general public are mind numbingly ignorant about such matters in the UK. Some of that is due to Sky and its years of mainstream dominance, which will take years to undo.
