Films in HD on Freesat

Reading the TV guide, I see that ITV HD showed King Kong in HD on Saturday. Was this a one off or have they started to show films in HD on a regular basis?

Are the BBC showing any films in HD yet?

(still sitting on the fence here!)

My System: Sky HD, TM6800HD, Manhattan Plaza ST550 and TM1500 CI+. 1.0m dish and 36v motor, Panasonic DVD HDD recorder and Panasonic video/DVD recorder. Sony G800 HD TV stand/surround system + Sony KDL40W2000. Infinity USB, Elvis, CAS1, CAS2.

I think ITV HD are being very picky at the moment and you'd be lucky if they are showing anything. I haven't noticed that BBC HD are showing films in HD though.

Well, according to the Radio Times (paper copy - not mine I add!) it was also broadcast in HD on ITV HD.

This was the first I heard of films, which is why I was interested. I also understood ITV had very limited HD broadcasts, but if they start to offer films (I missed at the cinema) in HD I will be straight down the high street for a receiver!

Might be worth waiting for a decent PVR model.

My System: Portland DP100 STB, Asus Tiger Hybrid + Kworld DBT100 + Skystar 2 HTPC

ITV HD have shown a few films, King Kong, Wimbledon, The Mummy & The Scorpion King from memory.

BBCHD have been showing films from the start, just because there is none on this week doesn't mean they don't. They have shown dozens, Kill Bill 1&2, The Relic, No1 Ladies Detective Agency, The Mighty Celt, A Cock and Bull Story, Freaky Friday, Herbie Fully Loaded, Miss Potter & Armageddon are among those shown in the last few months.

BTW upcoming films on ITVHD include "Shakespeare in Love" on Saturday and "Hard Target" next Week. BBC has "Kiss of Death" next Monday (And "Wind in the Willows" ... again)

Hard Target, now if ever there was a film that did not need HD... ;-) That's interesting to know though, I did not know they had started with films in HD, another plus for buying sooner not later.

@Jimbo, waiting for PVR model was my current plan
