Foxsat HD issue with BBC HD

Hi,

I have recently bought a Foxsat HD receiver and I am hitting a problem I can't seem to resolve.

when switching to BBC HD, the box used to freeze after a few seconds
unit would then display "APPL"

I did a factory reset as requested by Humax Support

when switching to BBC HD, the image now freezes after a few seconds and then I loose the sound but I can still operate the box (if i change to another channel and go back to bbc hd the problem reoccurs)

I have sent another email to the Humax support but they have not come back to me yet...

anyone with with a suggestion?

Details of the box are below

Software version HZPTSF 1.00.11
Loader Version U7.22
System ID 35 F1.0000
Update date 10/07/08

thanks,

Antoine

My System: Motorized Gibertini OP150 ,Motorized Fibo MF90, 2X ASC signal 1.20 on stand by,ASC signal 1.80 ,Famaval 1.80 , 60cm eliptical raven ..hirschmann fibre glass 1.20m....and more gadgets

update your box m8 via OTA ,current software version is 1.00.15 ,and that would correct the HD issues ....regards

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Seconded: Your firmware is out of date. Way out of date!

Thanks for your replies

I had tried an automatic software update but the box states there is no new software available

Is it possible to force an update via the manual update? if so has anyone got the details needed?

Thanks,

Antoine

Ah, I think that what has happened is that the OTA Download Stream used by Humax is currently serving only the HDR Version of the Foxsat.

I seem to recall this happened a few months ago as well: It is expensive to run such a facility and so rather than lease extra capacity, Humax choose instead to split the available time into chunks of a few weeks each, alternating between Firmware for the non-PVR and the PVR versions.

So it will be available in due course, but when I cannot say. You could ring the Humax Tech Support folk, I suppose.

I am, however, a bit surprised you've acquired a Box with the entry level Firmware, as the latest version dates from as far back as September last year - I'd expect newer stock to come fully updated.

As for other means of updating, I'm sorry but I really don't know.

Edit: Just seen from another Forum that it isn't advisable to Download from the Humax site as people have reported major problems. I think you may just have to be patient. Or take it back to the supplier and ensure you get one which is shipped with the latest Firmware. Not sure about your Consumer Rights here, but I'd have thought reduced functionality due to inadequate Firmware is covered by your Statutory Rights. Possibly!

Thanks Tivu,

I have called Humax and they have advised to get a replacement.

However I did fiddle with the box yesterday and I found out that if I use the non-freesat mode, I don't get the problem.

I use the component output of the box (my old sharp Aquos doesn't have HDMI) and by the look of it, the Freesat mode prevents watching HD over component (did the test with ITV HD) but not the non-freesat one.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get ITV HD in non-freesat mode (red button doesn't seem to work)?

Good advice from Humax - you've just got to spar with your Supplier now!

I'm sure it'll be fine.

I've heard of people with the Fortec Star Passion succeeding with ITV HD, but I'm almost positive the Foxsat can't get it in non-Freesat Mode. Sorry.
