0% Signal Quality on Humax FoxSat HDR

Hi
New member here - I hope someone can help me. I have just installed a new Humax FoxSat HDR and connected it to an existing Sky minidish that has been unused for a year or so but worked perfectly well before that. I am getting a signal strength of 50-60% but a signal quality level of 0%. Might my dish have gone out of alignment? I have two cables from the dish and have connected both (previously being on Sky+).
Thanks in advance

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Certainly sounds like it could be an alignment problem, if you have access to the dish, you could try gently tipping the dish reflector in all directions whilst someone is watching the TV screen and see if you can get an improvement.

My System: NEO-VH200 dish Humax foxsat hdr
0% quality

Another new member and trying to install mine.

If you go through the wizard (to the end) there are some maual settings
If you change the "transponder" settings till you get 60% or so quality you should be able to get some channels - I got Al jezera and some Russian ones so I reckon I'm on the wrong satellite - probably hotbird 6.

Checking the positions of the Astra and Hotbird satellites I reckon I can hopefully get the right one with slight adjstments to existing set up.

Check the Humax manual Page GB72 14.2 2 "If still not detecting ...."

I was getting 100% strength 0% quality.

Its probably the blind leading the blind but I did manage to get a few channels - just the wrong ones!

Will try and have another go tomorrow.

Dishpointer.com will show position of various satellites - seem to be a lot quite close together!

Good luck!

Hi
Tried adjusting the alignment. Signal strength jumps around between 30 and 100% but quality stays stuck at 0%. I am going to run another cable to check that isn't the problem and maybe try a neighbours freesat box to see if it's the kit. Other than that I may have to raise my dish higher on the house and see what happens. Maybe the trees behind have grown too much since I last used the dish and are interfering with my reception. I'd be interested to hear any other ideas you may have, or if you think I am missing something obvious. Thanks.

Can you take a photo of the outlook from the dish and upload it?

Hi Oldking

Mine works fine now - loads of channels. - Was on wrong satellite.

You will probably need to angle dish down a little bit and slightly to your right (standing in front of dish) - look on "strength" for the new signal. When strength around 80-100% - very small further adjustyments should cause the "quality" bar to spring into life. If still nothing then your still probably on wrong satellite.

If you are getting 80-100% strength try changing the transponder settings - select from menu - settings then satellite icon- select transponder and index through list and you will probably find 2 or 3 that give 60% or so "Quality" That's what I did and ended up with a handfull of Arabic and Russian channels - nothing in English. Don't forget to reset Transponder afterwards - see Humax Manual.

Also check Dishpointer.com with your postcode - find your house and select the right Astra Satellite - gives all the angles and settings for your dish. Then check some of the other satellites near Astra in the list and you will see how close some of them are and how easy it is to align on the wrong one.

Worked for me - hope it does for you!

Thanks for all the advice. I got a new quad LNB unit (£7.50 Ebay) which improved strength but still no change on quality. In the end I moved the diss up a metre and about 1.5 metres along the house so it is further from the trees in the line of sight. The dishpointer.com site was useful for finding the right angles. I managed to get c85% strength and c50% quality. I seem to have most of the freesat channels now with pretty good quality. Worth perservering! Thanks.
