My System: Not sure what the satellite is - it was there when I moved in! However, using it to get Freesat
Channels disappear..

Hi,

I'm certainly no expert with satellites, having only been required to use one in my house due to it having no TV aerial. I bought a Grundig GUFSAT02SD, and have been using with excellent results for about 3 weeks.

Two nights ago, however, some of the channels stopped working, saying "New Service.... Please wait" and nothing else. I tried re-tuning, but to the same effect.

Channels effected include More4 and E4 including the +1's and the ITV2,3,4, although curiously their +1 variants are fine. Oddly also, I cannot access BBC 1 Yorks (my local BBC 1), but I can take my pick of London, Northern Ireland or Wales.

Not sure if anyone has had these issues in the past? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks! Phil

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

I think the only thing you can do now is to perform a "New Installation" - Not sure exactly where you'll find the Menu options for that on the Gufsat (I have the Humax Foxsat), but all boxes have such a feature. This is more than a Retune and should clear anything and everything you (or it!) have done since purchase.

Looking at the list of faulty Channels, there is no common link (such as them all being of the same Polarisation) and it probably isn't a Dish/LNB/Cabling issue. But you can prove that beyond doubt if you can borrow someone else's Freesat or Sky Box to check.

If starting afresh with your correct Postcode still doesn't work, take it back for replacement/refund. I regret to say those Boxes are of poor quality.

(Unless by happy coincidence you're the people who've just moved in temporarily into my village, in which case I can pop over and have a look .............)

Haha that depends on whether you're in Thirsk or not! Thanks for the tip, I'll have a go at it. I've done a total reset of the box (starting over again with typing in postcode etc) already with no effect. Unfortunately, the Grundig was the only one I could afford!

I'll have another go and then head of to make some unreasonable demands of Comet...

Hi,

Unfortunately my solution was to return it (which Comet were suprisingly understanding about). I replaced it with the more expensive Humax FoxSat. Had that a month and so far no problems at all - it's worth the extra expense!

Good luck, Phil

Yes. I bought my Foxsat pre-loved and it's been fine.

Good for use on other Satellites, too ............................
