My System: Humax Freesat HDR
Problems with some channels

I have just got a new Humax Freesat HDR and have plugged it into the communal system. I guess most others on this communal set-up are watching Sky. Everything seemed to go OK and the EPG has fully populated.
I have discovered that some channels shown on the EPG do not work when you try to view/listen to them.
They are (sorry for long list!) -
153 - Zone Romantica, 140-BET, 208-Bloomberg, 302-True Movies, 303-True Movies 2, 304-Men & Movies, 306-M&M2, 403-Rural, 500-Chart Show, 501-The Vault, 502-Scuzz, 513-9XM, 603-Pop, 604-Popgirl, 605-Tinypop, 606-Kix, 801-pricedrop, 724-Absolute, 725-Absolute C Rock, 726-Absolute Extreme, 727-NME, 728-WRN, 729-Jazz FM, 731-Talksport, 777-Insight and 790-TWR.
Where are they? Are they on a different satellite?
ow do I rectify this problem!

Welcome to the forum.

These channels are common to DECT interference. If you have a cordless phone close by, turn it off and see.

I'm afraid there is no DECT phone in the apartment, only wireless internet. I don't think the adjoining apts have DECT but difficult to stop them if they do!! Any other solutions?

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Wireless Internet is also a prime source of "Electromagnetic Incompatibility" with some groups of Channels on Digital Satellite reception systems.

BT Home Hub is one of the worst.

These radiating devices exploit not the actual Satellite signal as it arrives at the Dish, but the cabling from the Dish to your Box.

Any joints such as wall faceplates are key weak points. Often cheap and nasty faceplates are used in flats - but you can get decent fully screened ones which may alleviate the problem.

My System: TM 7655 & Pace Digibox with FREESAT from Sky card 85 cm mesh dish with twin lnb in Corfu. LG 32LF7700 FREESAT TV with SELFSAT-H10D Flat Antenna Twin LNB, Pace Sky Box, HUMAX PVR 9200T in Norfolk

Hi Kaydee

To answer your question, yes (with the exception of Talksport) they are on a different satellite, namely Eurobird at 28.5' as opposed to Astra 2 at 28.2', so there may be a slight alignment issue.

problem

hello, seen your write up.
these satellites are .3 of a degree apart.
if this was the case ever the others would be having the same problem as well
if no one is having any problem with their sky box on those channels then there is some problem with your box.
it could be a softwere defect ot something is not switching in the box.
if you can go to a friend in another flat if you have a centrelized system and his is working in his flat and yours doesn't forl in his flat then that should confirm the box defect.
