I would like to build a database with information about the dish size and make and the LNB type used to receive channels from Astra 19.2E in Israel. Members who can receive ANY channels from Astra 19.2E are requested to post here their setup and which channels they can receive without pixelization. Thank you for your input.

| ![]() This is very interesting. Can you please attach a list of all the channels that you are able to receive with your 80cm dish. At the time I wanted to put the largest dish possible so that the reception will be good under all weather conditions. | |||

My System: Kabel BW | A friend in Lemesos/Limassol recommends 1.8m for proper 19.2E reception. Of course without Astra 1F but for the rest. I am not quite sure for a serious recommendation of minimum dish size in Israel but i wouldn't start below 2.40m. Maybe 3m gets all except 1F. The other question is, if Eilat has much worse conditions than the mediterranean coastal region. I am aware of these israeli sites that must be able to give precise info: _http://www.satil.com/english.htm (check the menu, there is also a sat board hidden) _http://www.tal-hetz.co.il/talsat/english/digital.asp

| Thank you deepbluesky. ![]() I am hoping to receive feedback from members with actual setup details and which beams can be received. The most common dish size here is 1.0m and 1.2m. 1.6m, 1.8m can be installed without attracting too much attention. But 2.4m and 3.0m are very rare and would most certainly need permissions. | ||

| If you are going to add or replace your dish, then I would consider 2.4m at least and hope that you will catch as many channels as possible (if this is at all possible in your house/apartment) If the largest size that you can install is 1.8m, then try to buy a good quality dish from well known brands instead of what they stock locally. Check the footprints over Israel first. Good luck. I would be very much interested to know how you will proceed with this project. | |||

My System: Kabel BW | Unfortunately arte HD has chosen an Astra 1F transponder. This means for you that it might only be receivable on monster dishes far bigger than 3m. And even this ain't for sure. You're too far away from the footprint edge. The problems start in the Aegean. Athens is on the very limit with 1m but in Rodos a very well aligned 2.30m does not get it. Astra 1F

Satellite Dish 1.2m Hotbird 13E. | Hi Shavit, I live in Jerusalem and I would like to receive the new Arte HD programs on Astra (19.2 East). I understand that you have a 1.8 m dish. My System: Kabel BW | Welcome on board Eliem1. Since in Rodos the reception is not possible on 2.30m i doubt very much if you would be able to get it in Jerusalem on a smaller dish. Astra 1F is a pain for the Eastern Mediterranean. Maybe for you the situation will get better when Astra 1N in 2011 will take over the 1F transponders. I wonder how the situation looks like today for 1G/H/KR/L. For me it's almost impossible to find any information since i cannot read hebrew. For you it should be easy to find some useful topics in these boards mentioned: _http://www.satil.com/links_forums_israel.htm _http://www.orbita-sat.com/phpBB2/index.php (in Russian) _http://www.orbita-sat.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1968 (looks like 2.40m are recommended for most stuff, maybe you should ask him as well)

My System: Covering 30W-105.5E range, two motors, C and Ku band. Various receivers/cards/cams/etc. | I have seen on a certain russian forum, some member from israel posting 7 meter and 15 meter sized dish photos, claiming that these are used for Astra 1 and Astra 2 series reception in israel (for further redistribution via cable tv) I think I have saved them somewhere. I'll try to find them - maybe people reckon them by surrounding buildings or so on.

My System: Kabel BW | Would be nice to see those photos but cable distribution always requires bigger dishes than for DTH. Such huge dishes surely were common in the days before Astra 1G. Maybe somebody from Israel can tell us what a 1.80m/2.40m/3m cannot get from 19.2E/28.2E/28.5E ?

| ![]() I wish I can confirm this, but I can't have another dish larger than the 1.6m that I have now without getting the neighbours mad at me. Well, perhaps if I win the lottery and buy my own house, I can then put a 2.4m dish and start enjoying Astra. On second thought, it might be cheaper to move to Europe. | |||

My System: Kabel BW | Glad you like it. Well as you can see not many frequencies can be received and mostly the 1KR/L are missing. If 1M/N will behave similar, i fear that one in your region should upgrade to at least 3m for a proper reception. Of course 1F remains pain, but its time is soon over.
