Bigger dish needed

Hello, My trusty Motorised Triax 1.1 is having a hard time with Nilesat ( although I did watch Real Madrid Tues night ..just 44% ) So I would be interested to hear from anyone who is getting 7w and what size dish (fixed for me) may be suitable.

Moved your thread to the Fringe reception section, there are at least a couple of threads in this section discussing reception in Wales, use nilesat as a search term and it will throw them up.

Great info. I already have most of my answers. ( should have searched Nilesat here Rolfw hmm no need for my post really)
Nice info renibacterium.
Looks like a 2.4 dish, which I have room for, will be required. I had already been Googling but very costly answers. Maplin, never thought to look there but looks like the answer and within my price range £189 and with mounts.
At 3.3 long 52.5 lat would I get away with a Maplin 1.85m dish. thanks.

On hold at mo. After quite a bit of reading ..The Ma*lin dish (Fortec star ?) is a bit flimsy and suspect performance. May have to dig a bit deeper for more solid dish.

The Fortec dishes that maplin sell are a pile of SH..... er poo. I had a play with a 1.8m one recently and didn't get much better results than I get from my TD110. They are really flimsy, I wouldn't want to leave one out in a breeze.
I get a lock on 11862v (i think it is) and can scan the channels in with my TM500 and TD110. Can't watch them though, it just about scans them.

I've booted up, I've patched in, I'm online, offline, downloaded and extremely cheesed off!

Dont waste your money on a maplin dish. they are indeed extremely flimsy - one of our members had one which folded up in a winter gale and was removed in bin bags!!

My System: C BANDIT

A persoal opinion about 7w:
If you use an offset dish look for da LASER GOLD 0.3db excellent for this bird

If you use a PFA dish go for Inverto Flange

For Ku band it's not recomanded to use 6 or more paneled dishes , and the chinesse dishes never ever

Just as well I didn't rush in and by a pile of ... trouble. The price was so tempting. I am not after the showtime just the sport EG:- on the vertical 11823 tuesday night, footy, and ok untill 11.15pm with my triax. There may be other TP's this season that I would like to scan. I can see, from reading, the horizontal's are extremely difficult. So still on hold.
