Czech TV on Sky

Ok guys I am new to this. I have tried to find the answer by searching but no luck so here it goes:

I would like to be able to watch Czech TV channels. I am happy to buy the TV card and slightly bigger dish. I am wondering if I can use this card in some sky/sky+ box (along with my normal sky card) or if I need dedicated receiver. Any recommendations are appreciated. Any recommendations how big dish I will need. (I live in Essex)

Thanks

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

A 1m dish in Essex should be OK, you will need a different box though, as they are encrypted in Cryptoworks.

Any chance I could get away with smaller dish? (I live in flat)

Do I assume right that I can use the same dish for sky?

Thanks for the replay.

I think that 1m is pretty much the minimum, but you can use it for Sky as well.

Sorry to ask, again I am really new to this.

Could I get any device which would allow me to use a smaller dish?

My System: a variety of lnb's (5), dishes (2), diseqc motors (3) and receivers (4).

@ student

Please take note of what Rolf has posted. I'm slightly north of you with a 1.25m dish and cannot get any indication of any signal strength from the frequency that the czech channels are on. There is no "device" that will allow you to pick up those signals from a small dish.

My System: Amstrad Digibox and zone 2 dish. Technomate 1500ci+, 90cm motorised dish on a very thick pole!

If you mean the ones at 28.2 then I can/could (before they were encrypted) get them on an 80cm in Leeds. Loads of unencrypted Czech radio channels available here as well.

Thanks for all the replies.

I am interested in Czech TV, as there are many radio station I can listen to the Internet. My problem is having a big dish on the house as I live in a flat. I am aware I need a card (I can get one for about 75£). I have ”tuned” my sky digibox to receive Czech TV and at news time I can see “something” but not a good picture. This issue of a large dish is a big problem for me. If anyone else has any experience do please post a reply.

Many thanks to all.

Just had to do a service call on someone with a 98cm dish, his czech channels are starting to drop out now, will try with a better LNB, to reduce the noise, an 80cm that he had perviously gave ony intermittent reception. He is West of London.

Berkshire Lancelot, but I think that the LNB is at fault, only had a Blue Line Quattro in the van, so couldn't conduct a proper test, it did however produce a far better signal to noise figure. Will try with a single blue line universal later in the week.

Can't get a glimmer on my 80cm though.

Blimey

AForester was saying the same thing recently with his 125cm north of London
Having said that - he gets 3 or 4 transponders from Amos *4w and I can only get 1.

Strange thing this terrain stuff.

Ive got 50% strength 10% quality on my 80cm in Leeds, still perfectly clear when unencrypted. Weird.

I'm using a Dreambox and there are more sensitive receivers around. 50% and 10% would give nothing on the Dreambox.

As I have to buy a bigger dish, receiver etc. What would you from your experience recommend me to get? (I would also like to be able to record the programs to HD.) The size of the dish is a bigger issue than the money. I will need to use the same dish for sky also. Many thanks for the help.

The cards are only £80/annum, cheap enough to subscribe.

The card to receive Czech TV is one-off payment and not yearly subscription from what I have gathered from Czech website which is officially authorised to distribute them. http://www.trade-technology.cz/content/mainTrade.asp?skup=4#1 Slovak TV is the same. Don’t know about other countries. Can someone please give me recommendation on the most suitable LNB and receiver? Many thanks.

Any Cryptoworks embedded receiver will be fine, probably be just as cheap, possibly cheaper to buy one from the company you point to.

My System: Starsat SR-X200CI and 80cm dish (0.3db LNB) on Hispasat 30w

I now realise how lucky i must be if i get 50% signal quality and strength on these Czech channels on a normal Minidish!!!!!

When i read this thread and saw people talking about using 1m and 80cm dishes to get these, i couldn't believe my eyes!

I must be lucky to get these channels then!

Is it possible to crack cryptoworks??

The last noble sat warrior to fly the olden flag of Analogue

1m?? i can just about get the Czechs on a 60cm (round ex analogue) dish! Using an Echostar ip3000Va which has a fairly sensitive tuner in it. LNB is BluLine dual output. Half an houspent tweaking the alignment for optimal alignment 3 years ago, b*gger all since then.

Must just be a good install and a relatively low threshold reciever, good for you mate

I get about 63 / 65% sig and 100% qual on a 97cm and DVB S card where I am so you're doing OK
