Hello, I'm not quite sure whether I'm in the correct forum, but here goes my question. Well before I do so, I must admit I do not understand much about all this satellite terminology! but anyway here it goes! I'm currently living in Spain, and I'm thinking of installing a satellite dish. On the other hand I have read about certain PC TV Cards, such as Win TV , hauppage, apparently there are three different types, analogue, digital and satellite. Is it possible to view British Digital terrestrial channels via my satellite dish and into my computer with one these cards? If there is no way, what alternatives do I have? I'm not quite sure anybody will be able to help! But just in case! Thanks a lot! Rauland.

My System: Skymaster DCI9900 + PC/twinhan combination. 80cm dish. GBPVR with 2 DTTV cards +hauppauge Media MVP | Is it possible to view British Digital terrestrial channels via my satellite dish and into my computer with one these cards? If there is no way, what alternatives do I have? You can receive the free-to-air channels (BBC channels, ITV3 and some others)with your PC with a DVB-S card. Popular cards are Skystar and Twinhan, but there are others. Not sure what size dish you'd need, but I'm sure someone else will comment. Also those cards have Diseqc so you'd be able to control a multi satellite setup. Hope that helps Peter

My System: 105 cm motor dish with 75E to 45 W - Openbox 820 CI | It depends were you are in Spain since Spain is out of the footprint of Astra 2D. I'm also out of footprint but it works for me with 1 meter since the footprints are not always that exact. Look here : http://www.astra2d.com/spain.htm http://www.astra2d.com/footprint.htm Claasi

My System: 1.35m dish, double 0.3 db LNB, skydigibox pace ds430n, ftv card, samsung receiver ds100F. | Hi, Thanks pgh13,claasi and lovelyperson for your replies, I'm living in Seville, Southern Spain. But I'm a little confused still, would I be better of seeing satellite channels on my PC using one of these PCI TV cards, http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/prod_digital.html (As it says they use a decode software) or via a receiver and on my TV. Apparently there are freeview digital terrestrial channels in the UK, which are BBC1,BBC2, ITV1,Channel 4, channel 5 plus some more, would I be able to see these on my PC using one of these PCI TV Cards and a satellite dish? I know it also deppends on the size of my satellite dish. I was asking myself if a PC pci TV Card would decode more channels than a satellite receiver. If so which one would you recommend? Many thanks! Rauland! A world of Raul.

ITV1, 2 ch4 and 5 you need a sky digibox, which are cheap enough on Ebay If you are happy with just BBC then you can go with PC card or a non S*y digital receiver. Both of those are more suited should you decide that you want to look at other satellites, and may be able to receive some other encrypted channels (but not S*y). If you are in to PCs then you may want to consider using one as the basis of a personal video recorder (see www.byopvr.com)
