Red face BBC HD problem

Morning. I'm having problems receiving BBC HD with my Humax HD 2000.
I have tried manual searches but no luck. I think I have all the BBC and ITV channels inputted and working well. I am using a brand new sky dish for this.
The receiver will work well with the Astra demo channel and a couple of other HD channels on Astra 1, giving a very good picture. This is with a 80cm dish.
Both dishes go to a Disecq switch, then to the receiver and is only a short run of 3-4m.
Does anybody have any idea where the BBC HD signal is, or am I missing something here? Thanks.

Hi Dougpug, welcome to the forum.

Have moved post from BSKYB section to general HD section.

Providing your dish is accurately aligned on Astra 2, you should have no problem receiving BBC HD. Perfectly OK on my Humax at present.

Frequency: 10846V SR22000 FEC 5/6

Thanks Llew, good to be here. I'll check the radio channels as well. I read on on one of the forum sections that it had saved to there in one case.I'll get back.

Still no luck with the BBC HD. On that transponder all I get are BBC CI and BBC E.
As far as I can see I have all the search parts correct. Good quality signal.
Has anybody else had this problem? Could it be the receiver? Any ideas would be much appreciated

It's possible that you have an earlier software version. There were problems receiving BBC HD on versions before 1.00.04.

You can download a later version (1.00.07) from the Humax website if that is the case -

I'll check out the later software and have a play around tomorrow. Just watching Barcalona losing 1-0! Cheers for the help. Will let you know the results.

I've just checked on the system page on the menu. The software version is 1.00.03 so I think it does want updating. It does say that 1.00.04 fixes a specific BBC HD problem.
I looked at the Humax download page, is it straightforward and can it be done using a usb cable and do I need to download both 04 and 07?

No, 07 includes all updates.

You need a serial cable to upload data to your box using the WDN4OAK loader as shown on the site. If your PC or laptop only has a USB port, you'll need a serial - USB adapter.

Before I installed the latest .07 software for the Humax 2000 I phoned them (Humax) to check if it would work with Vista. According to the Humax engs. it has not been tested with Vista, so they say it will NOT work.
Does anybody have any experience of using Vista for this installation? I'm going to use a mate's PC with XP but I'd be interested to know if anyone's been successful in using Vista.

I have just tried to install the .07 software into the receiver but it will not go. I press the download button, go to standby and 'waiting for Humax connection' is displayed and that is as far as I get.

The driver for the serial/usb adapter is in ok,and the wdn4oak etc is all ok.

I can't see that I've done anything wrong. Any ideas?

You need to switch the box off at the mains, press the download button, then turn the box on again.

I didn't turn off at mains, had it on standby when pressing download button. That must be it.

I'll try to give it a go this a.m. Cheers, Llew.

What about this baudrates setting, any preference there?

115200 worked OK for me with a short RS232 cable. Originally I tried tp D/L with the permanent cable I have between two rooms (used for my Triple Dragon connection), but it was too noisy for effective communication with the Humax on that rate, and using a lower baud rate took ages (when it worked).

I have just got back from trying to download the update. I used a RS232 cable between the PC and Rec'r and still no joy. Carried out the procedure as above.
The message 'waiting for Humax conection' was still displayed.
On a couple of occassions a small window came up with a comms port error message, not on every attempt tho'.
I think I've done all I can but I do have my old PC to try tomorrow. If not, I know this young chap who is one of PC World's whizz kids and I'll let him have a go at it. Thanks for your help

Which COM port are you using? Try a different one (usually you have a choice (1 -4)

There were a choice of 4, tried them all. No go. Got same message whichever port I tried.

Faulty RS232 USB adapter /driver? Heaven forbid a problem with the RS232 port on the Humax

Maybe you're right. They can have it back next week if I can get a box for it.

I'll give the PC World chap a go if I can get hold of him

I got fed up with it and got in touch with Wizard Satellte, the retailer. I spoke to Paul, returned the receiver, they put in the software and returned it next day. Good service there.
They told me in Maplins that I was buying the correct cable to do the data transfer. I should have checked further.
Anyway, BBC HD in all it's glory and better picture and sound all round. Thanks for your help.
