I am interested in buying a HD receiver but am not that technical. The Dreambox 8000 is of interest to me, although it has yet to be released (sometime next May, I understand). My question is this: Is an HD receiver capable of receiving SD (standard digital channels MPEG 2). In other words is it backward compatible with the existing "normal" digital broadcasts we now receive without the need to have a separate receiver for them? (Common sense tells me yes, but better be sure).

Blog Entries: 5 My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser. | Yes they are, wouldn't have much to watch otherwise.
