Anyway, it took me a while to work out why no HD but cracked it yesterday through the download procedure on this forum - and watched the end of Torchwood on BBC HD before falling asleep on the sofa! The residual snag is - why can't I find Channel 4 and Channel 5? The Panasonic/Sky Digibox picked them up fine, how come the Humax cannot?

Thanks for any advice/guidance. I am a sat newbie BTW.

Hi peter_964rs,

You should be able to find them. Do a manual search by going into the transponder menu and inserting the frequency. They are only viewable with a Sky card, but for viewing them, you can use your existing sky card that you have in the Panasonic/Sky Digibox in the Humax via a T-Rex CAM. You insert your digibox number in the T-Rex menu that is paired with the sky card and it will let you view Sky Three, Channel 4 and Five even if you stopped your subcription with Sky(and your Sky package if you still have/pay for one).

Hi nautivago!

I haven't confirmed it yet on the Humax website, due to the fact that I'm away from my personal computer and I can't access my user name & password for the Humax download.

The HDXCI10004 firmware came out first on sat forums before the official release by Humax. It does work, sometimes(well... that's another issue), so we can never be sure if it is a good firmware or not.

It's not available on the Humax website yet (03/01/07). Haven't tried the 'unofficial' one myself - as rato said, may well be OK, just need confirmation from other users first.

I hoe this new version, official or otherwise can solve a lot of my problems with not being able to save user-defined TP's or new sats. Also it's motor-driving is erratic too. Where can I get this new firmware from please?

Thanks Nautivado. Must have been my browser problems. Now I have the file I am a bit apprehensive about installing it now :-) Maybe will wait until I hear if others have successfully upgraded it first. So if any bravehearts have done so, did you find any problems?

Hi Barry..

I have downloaded HDXSC110008 too. Will upload to HD2000 later.
If its not as good as 1.07, I will go back to 1.07.
Hope it brighten up the HDMI Picture on the LCD.
The scarts picture is spot on, but the HDMI picture is to Dark.

Try your registration at www.humaxdigital.com and wait a few weeks or less for an official firmware.

Hi All, Barry, Nauti..

Loaded 1.08 into HD2000.
First impressions are its an improvment over 1.07.
HDMI not as dark in 1.08.
The HDMI (AV4) picture is a lot sharper even when receiving
a 576i transmission also the INFOs writing is a lot sharper over
that of the RGB Scart connection.
On the 1.07 picture sharpness on the HDMI & RGB scart
were the same.
Diablo Cam compatible with 1.08 (Prem and D+ spot ON).

My System: Topfield 5800 Echostar3000,DB7000, Relook 400S, Humax HDC2000, 55cm Fibo Gregorian dish with waveguide and Motek 2100 mod, 90cm Fibo Gregorian dish, 120cm Fibo Gregorian dish on a 1224 motor with waveguide

Just loaded 1.08 onto my HD2000, which I mainly use for HD stuff.
Initial impressions are that the contrast is up and the picture generally is improved.
I use YUV from all my inputs through a matrix switch, and 1.07 HDMI did not seem as good as the YUV and also had a flutter on the image.

Using 1.08 the picture quality seems the same on YUV and HDMI, I do however still have a small flutter, though I think it is less. The flutter may well be due to earthing problems or the 5mtr HDMI cable to my PJ, I have'nt investigated since I don't use it.

And here was me, hoping against hope the upgrade was to improve the user-defined savings, menu options and more accurate motor-control. Not sure I will install it then, if it is just improvements to picture as to mind mind, the picture quality was excellent before (I use HDMI).

Hi den123.

Download the WDN40OAK+ uploading software from the HUMAX site, connect a null modem cable to your STB from your PC's COM port, select the 1.08 hdf file and start the uploader with your STB switched off at the mains.

Switch your STB back on and it will begin the download.

Is it still possible to get Premiere, i'm getting a little bored of only being able to BBC HD. I have no CAM's or programmers, i was looking at this Ebay.co.uk/T-REX-SUPERMODULE-CAS3-INTERFACE-PLUS-ALL-IN-ONE_W0QQitemZ230083736688QQihZ013QQcategoryZ60837QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank">http://cgi.Ebay.co.uk/T-REX-SUPERMOD...QQcmdZViewItem and wanted to know if it included everything i needed, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Probably the going rate for that combo, no harm in trying for a bid.

Will be fine for the Humax, as for opening that or any other provider, as usual depends on the current situation regarding key availability.

I was also looking at getting a Cam that would maybe unlock more HD channels, but I have no experience of Cams and keys etc. Could someone tell me which Cam is best for the HDCI-2000 and what I would need to do to be able to update it? Probably questions asked many times, but maybe the situation and availability of Cams has changed since then. Thanks.

As with the answer to zoomer, a Dragon/TRex is suitable, or you could use a Diablo CAM. In both cases, a Duolabs CAS3 programmer will meet your needs for programming these CAMS. Information on programming them comes with the Duolab, or have a look in the Cards, Programmers and Cams section of this forum for tips.

Thanks Llew. What puzzles me though is what sort of encryption is handled by the various different Cams mentioned. eg; Can they all handle Viaccess2, Irdeto2, Conax etc? Or are some specialising to one type or a few types? Sorry if these are questions in the Cam section but I wouldn't really want to wade through them all. I am really only interested in Cams that would be able to pull in HD channels, not the sex ones that seem to be prevailant when people use Cams.

The two popular multicams (Dragon/TRex and Diablo) will open P*remiere HD, but you would need a valid subscription card for other providers when using these CAMS.

There are several FTA HD channels available on the various satellites, check

_http://en.kingofsat.net/hdtv.php

for those presently transmitting.
