My System: Technomate TM6800, Technomate TM6800 Super, Technomate 5200, Humax Foxsat HDR, Humax CI-8100, Lemon FTA, Force Frontier T90, Channelmaster 1.2 + Jaeger 1224, Misc other bits and bobs.

Thanks again Llew. I already have all or most of the FTA HD channels tuned in. I think the total at the moment is about 15. But about 80% of these are pure demo content. Only the Proseiben and Sat1 German channels carry normal programmes and these tend to be SD content transmitted in HD. As I mentioned I am not into Cams, but would like to ask; If I got a T-Rex or Diablo, how could I get a legal viewing card for a good quality HD service provider? (maybe German or French) I have not seen any advertised in Wotsat except for the hard sex channels. Do I need to contact them direct? Would they sell me one in this country? Cheers. Barry.

I don't think they'll sell direct to the UK unless you are a foreign national with an address in that country.

Some UK card suppliers do offer these cards at an exhorbitant price though.

Give it a try, you never know what might come up there Barry. Be careful though, plenty of sharks out there ready to trouser your hard-earned cash

Against my better sense I installed the latest firmware 1.08 the other day. While it still does not allow saving of TP's and sats etc it now seems to have caused loss of HD channels! Unless the ones I am trying are off air. I can get the Astra Demo HD-01 OK on Astra 19E but the three German channels are now missing. I get good signal/quality strength but just a blank picture. This are Proseiben, sat1 and Anixe. Similaly The Demo HD channel on Hispasat is now unobtainable. Not tried the rest yet. Is this something others have found after upgrading to 1.08? If so I will revert back to Version 1.07 Regards, Barry

I don't have any problems with the 1.08 upgrade receiving the HD channels you mention apart from the Canal AD HD channel on Hisp. Maybe it's off-air as you suggest. I notice though that it takes several seconds for them to clear. For that reason I'll most likely revert to the 1.07.

Also with a Diablo cam the Prem*iere HD channels are similarly clear ATM.

I also have no problems with 1.08, other than the delay, which I also had on 1.07. It seems a bit random in the amount of time it takes if any. If I switch channels and back again, sometimes clears.

I think it would be expedient for Humax to overhaul the software PDQ. Most users seem to agree that it's very poor, and must make potential buyers think twice about purchasing the box.

Having said that, taking into account it's an early entrant into the world of HD, it has been on the whole pretty impressive overall.

My System: Humax HDci-2000 with Matrix Cam
Question

Just got my self one of these bad boys, but it doesn't seem to recognise my Matrix Revolutions cam. I have an original HRT viacess card but would also like a cam that will give me a few freebies. So i guess my question is, can i make the Matrix cam work and if not what should be the best purchase to replace it?
Thanks in advance

I agree the box on the whole is brilliant for the quality of HD broadcasts. It really seems to me that this box was brought out by Humax simply to be first in the race. No deep thought was given to operational features as long as it delivered excellent HD pictures and of course beat everyone else. I would like to see them completely revamp the software but if they have another better model up their sleeve they won't be doing this. I think now they have shown what can be achieved in HD reception they will bring out a more 'enthusiast-friendly' model. Hopefully this will include blind search and better motorised dish control? Hope they are listening! :-)

Hi yugohoop

It does recognise the Revolutions cam, at least it does in mine. More than that I cannot help, as I don't use it - as mentioned in earlier posts,
Dragon/Trex and Diablo are the main cams that are used in the Humax, S/W updates appearing regularly for them.

Following up from my previous post about now not being able to receive Sat1, Proseiben and Anixe. These ARE in fact receivable.... after a wait. Switching between either I have to sit with a blank screen for anything from 15 to FORTY-THREE seconds, before the picture appears. Something wrong here I supect? If it doesn't improve I will re-install version 1.07

You insert your digibox number in the T-Rex menu that is paired with the sky card and it will let you view Sky Three, Channel 4 and Five even if you stopped your subcription with Sky(and your Sky package if you still have/pay for one).
Rato, thanks for your help but I am still confused.

I have bought a T-REX cam and inserted the Sky card as you suggest.

There is no T-REX menu visible on the Humax. I try the System->CI-module menu and see that CI-module 2 has FIRECRYPT 1.3 now flagged; I select this and it allows me to choose "Embedded FireCrypt" or "Smartcard". If I select the former it gives me a serial number and then exits, if I select the latter it just says "Wrong card inserted".

I still can't view channels 4 and 5, or any ex-Sky channels such as UKTV Gold or Paramount Comedy, and I'm wondering if I've just wasted money on this CAM...?

You're just reading the virgin CAM info. You have to load your CAM with suitable software to enable you to read a S*Y card.

Try loading your TRex with the latest Predator file. Assuming you have a programmer...

For a general overview of programmers etc. see -

http://www.duwgati.com/uk/index.htm

Programmers suitable for use with the TRex CAM (or Dragon CAM in its earlier incarnation) are the CAS system from Duolabs - either CAS2 +Addon (the card reader board) or the 'All-in-one' CAS3, or a phoenix compatible card programmer like the Infinity USB.

Using the programmer, loader card that usually comes with your CAM or a Funcard 7, and a suitable application software (CAS interface studio with the CAS 2/3 system, or the Dragonload.exe application with other programmers), you then program the loader card with a suitable file such as the aforementioned Predator software.

The card is then inserted into your CAM, and you're up and running.

Hi Llew I also got a T-Rex and loader card and successfully programmed it with the latest Predator file using Infinity USB. So if I can do it I am sure Newbie Peter can. Only problem I found is while I can get all the TaQ channels, nowhere can I get Premier which it is supposed to bring in. is there something else that needs to be done to get extra channels? Cheers. the ORIGINAL Newbie :-)

Hi barrykap, you need to put the Prem keys in manually. They've been out for some time now, check the usual keysites.

Go to your CI Module menu, then Debug - OhAladin - Prem*ere, 0501.

Latest available k*ys go in the 01-0 and 01-1 lines. Find a site with k*ys in decimal form (sets of three digits) as these are used to enter in the CAM, or convert hex ones to dec using a hex - dec converter.
