My System: None Yet |
I am looking for someone to supply and install a 3.1M or bigger dish at my home on the west coast of Fuerteventura. So far I have had no luck finding anyone on the island with experience of installing large dishes. I hear that the common large dish used on the island is the 3.1M prime focus Favomal and that this will only receive signals on the horizontal polarization, this would be OK but I also understand that Astra 2D reception can be intermittent at certain times of the day and year. Maybe I would be better off with a larger, say 3.8M dish. I need a solution that will give me reliable reception from Astra 2D from 5PM to midnight every day of the year. So my questions if anyone can help are: 1.Supplier/installer of a large dish on Fuerteventura. Maybe based in Lanzarote. 2.Information on reliability and advise on dish size. Any help or advice will be gratefully received. Rick | ||

| If you have already heard that a 3.1 isn't good enough then you know you need a larger dish. Next real size up is going to be the 3.7 or 3.8m size, so you should start checking prices for manufacturers of solid versions at this size. This island also has its fair share of winds so you will need to look carefully at wind breaks, decent ground stand design and professional antenna models with proper windloading calculations, definitely not the cheaper petalised versions which will fall apart within a year. | ||
