My System: sky satellite dell laptop
watch tv and slingbox at same time

when I'm abroad and watching TV through my Slingbox, if someone at home changes the channel, mine changes too - is there a way around this?

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

Are they changing the channel on the Slingbox or the TV?

If they're changing the Slingbox, the answers obvious. Tell them not to!

If they're changing the TV channel then it sounds like the Slingbox is set to take its signal from the TV. Change it so that the Slingbox is using its own internl tuner.

EDIT

Just remembered that not all Slingboxes have their own tuner. If yours doesn't then the only thing I can suggest is to buy a seperate Freeview box and plug the Slingbox into that.

Welcome to the forum,

Sounds very much like you need a separate source (assuming your using a sky receiver or freeview). In addition, the Uk version slingbox also incorporates it's own freeview receiver.

Edit: pipped to the post

Thank you very much - you've cracked it! Slingbox comes through Sky and that's what they were using to change channels.

Options are to use the embedded freeview tuner or another sky box.
