LS-120 Drive

OK don't laugh

I'm looking for a working internal LS120 Drive without a silly price tag

I've basically need to get some stuff off a few old LS120 Disks , its not desperate but its just some old pics of myself and some mates from when i was at University that i would like to be able to retrieve

Any help would be appreciated

I almost bought one of these drives when it was available, but their lifespan wasn't long. Wish I had as I could help you with your request.
It might be easier to send the disks to someone who has such a drive, and he can extract the files on your disks and put them in a DVD or CD, for a small price.

Found one through ,Amazon USA. Stocked by Alan Computech Int.
For $32 + Shipping this sounds reasonable.
BTW: How did you manage to record to the disks, in the first place?

_http://www.,amazon.com/Compaq-LS-120-drive-SuperDisk-internal/dp/B0002HSZX0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&m=AAH54VUOMIQYW&s=generic&qid=1 252220401&sr=1-4

Edit: Just check if this drive is compatible with your disks. It is 5.25" and the LS-120 that I remember was smaller.

My System: Mostly gathering dust cos there's no room for dishes here... :(

The Sleepy Hollow pollracle has spoken!

oooh, LS-120, never used it myself, but had access to a few LS-120 drives in the past...

If you have access to an older Compaq laptop (Evo, Armada etc.), you could get this one at £11.99 (free P&P):

Nano
I have a few old drives about, just in case.

Is this one of those that took 120mb disks 3 1/2 size.

I got mine from down from up the loft and its refusing to work now. I think 6 years of no use hasn't done it much good

I used that unit to record to the disk in the first place

Its the same as pictured below

Have you tried opening it up and cleaning it out? Could just be dusty...

Just a thought - many modern computers dont even recognise floppy drives these days - things have moved on so much that support has been dropped for them.

If you are trying to fit it into something fairly new this could be the problem.

I had to buy a usb floppy for the workstation in my office - I still get the occasional request "can you get my data off this floppy?"

Sorry

Just been searching and don't seem to have one now. I threw some old computers out for the scrap man a few months ago, and I think it was in one of those.

I have an external ZIP drive and some 3 1/2" 120/240 mb optical drives with a scsi interface which I think were around in the same era.

Is yours an IDE or floppy Interface

I believe I've got one knocking around - £20 inc P&P if you want it.
Its an Internal IDE jobbie but fits in a normal disk drive. I'll have to prove it fires up (I doubt I've got any disks to check that it read/writes, but its hardly been used), but let me know if you're interested.
