When was the last time a team folded mid season?

Arrows maybe? or perhaps Simtek?

My System: Sky+ Pace v3, and before that analouge 80cm dish with Prima by Pace box pointed at 19.2e (not very imaginative then!)

It was Lola in 1997. They 'raced' in the first race in Australia, but nobody was interested in sponsoring them after that because they were a non-entity - they didn't even qualify in Australia!

Change to Qualifying

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/7391106.stm

Just to let you know, due to Super Aguri's exit from the Championship, the FIA have changed the qualifying procedure from Turkey onward to reflect the fact that only 20 cars remain. Basically, one less car will be eliminated after qualifying sessons 1 and 2, but (obviously) 10 cars are still left for session 3.

Q1: NEW SYSTEM - 16th to 20th slowest elimated / OLD SYSTEM - 17th to 22th
Q2: NEW - 11th to 15th / OLD - 11th to 16th
Q3: NEW and OLD - 10 car 'shootout' for pole position, 1st to 10th

Turkish GP - Qualifying

Despite looking assured of a one-two after yesterday's practice sessions, Ferrari didn't get it all their way today in qualifying, but the prancing horses will still be confident that pole-sitter Felipe Massa can convert 1st on the grid to 1st in the race once again.

Going into the final seconds of Q3, Felipe Massa was already top of the list and Lewis Hamilton could only come 2nd with his final attempt (despite recording the fastest final sector time), so when Massa improved on his time it was a sure thing that the Brazilian was pole.

The shock came when Heikki Kovalainen took 2nd from Hamilton, which sets up a rather interesting possible tussle between the pair on Sunday. Kimi Raikkonen faulted on his last flying lap, but still finds himself in 4th, just pipping Robert Kubica to the 2nd row - the Pole is now alongside Mark Webber.

Webber's 6th place lap seems to support the view that Red Bulls might be on to a good race this weekend, and with David Coulthard qualifying in 10th, a good points haul is on.

7th and 8th on the grid are Fernando Alonso and Jarno Trulli. The experienced duo significantly outperformed their teammates - Timo Glock was 15th out of 15 in Q2, whilst Nelson Piquet couldn't even get his Renault out of Q1. Piquet Junior will sit 16th on the grid tomorrow, 1 place behind another underperforming youngster in Williams' Kazuki Nakajima.

9th is Nick Heidfeld, and compatriot Nico Rosberg is 11th after only just missing out on Q3.

You had the 3rd highest score in Spain - me and Norm scored slightly more. If only you were more consistent you'd be top, you were after all top scorer in Malaysia but 4th last in Aus

Don't worry, you weren't the only one - 4 other people still have Aguri elements in their team.

Well I suspect DC has more fuel on board than Mark Webber but the margins now are so fine, 1 second covers the top ten places that is tight to say the least

I agree with you he will be heavy on fuel & this on occasions can get him some points with an average car but.... he has been 3rd fastest on Friday his car is genuinely quick this weekend don't you think he should of gone for a little less fuel and a better grid position ??

It's impossible to say how the Red Bulls will perform over the course of a whole race.

It maybe the case that when Red Bull modelled their car's performance up against that of the projected performance of their competitors, their car performed poorly over the long distance.

Of course, it may equally be the case that DC has decided that long stints will benefit him in the longer term.

We can only wait and see. I hope Red Bull do well though, I like the way they go about things.

Turkish GP - The Race

Official Race Classification| Full Story

Drivers’ Championship

Constructors’ Championship

SupaLiga 2008

(Full table available in attachment)

F1 Aberdeen remain in 1st place, but Auto-Dynamo cut their lead with a Turkish top score of 98pts.

Tom34 was the big climber this weekend, moving 3 up on the ladder, whilst Oily and Linhas (now off the bottom) also put in great performances.

It was a different story for pazinho and his Outcast team who fall 3 places, whilst the Tossers (3rd in 2007) and Rubbers (7th in ‘07 ) continue their terrible starts to the season.

Norm in the Pure FF1 Cup > The Supas are in the top 32 for the first time. They sit 25th at present.

Well I was very lucky last year in that my team started out with Lewis Hamilton, a rookie in an excellent car who performed way above expectation. It really was a head start.

I don't think there's a secret but you do need some sort of strategy. You get an additional budget of 2 million after every race so you need to try to use that to best advantage. You can also see values move, Piqet Jnr has dropped 6 million from the first race! Last race I changed my chassis from Honda to Red Bull; it cost 2 million but it brought 6 additional points.

If you look in the Components section of the home page, you can see how each component has performed points and value wise over the season. This may help you if you are thinking about changes (3 free changes per race).

Also don't forget about the 10 points available for predicting the grid positions of your two drivers.

Norm.

Tyres....Major Change for Monaco GP

Looks like a change to Bridgstone 1 for the next Grand Prix followed by Canada .

Also of note, the super soft compound, which will be used at the Monaco Grand Prix, is modified from the compound used in 2007. The other three compounds, hard, medium and soft remain the same, as do Bridgestone's wet and extreme wet tyres.

16 March Australia Albert Park Soft and Medium
23 March Malaysia Sepang Medium and Hard
6 April Bahrain Bahrain Soft and Medium
27 April Spain Catalunya Medium and Hard
11 May Turkey Istanbul Medium and Hard
25 May Monaco Monte Carlo Super Soft and Soft
08 June Canada Circuit Gilles Villeneuve Super Soft and Soft
22 June France Magny Cours Soft and Medium
06 July Britain Silverstone
Medium and Hard

Big change in Tyres in the next Monaco GP in two weeks time, Super soft will be used so I predict a mass change to Bridgestone 2 and also with the Canadain GP in a few weeks time, This could be a turning point for teams not watching technical and equipement changes, like the guys still using Super Aguri in there teams.
