We now have the ridiculous situation where the FL Second division has 3 clubs starting the season on negative points due to penalties and financial problems.

Bournemouth........... -17
Rotherham.............. -17
Luton ..............-30

Its about time anyclubs that declare insolvency were thrown out of the league (automatic relegation 3 or 4 divisions maybe?) and new blood allowed in via extra promotions from the Conference. Both Rotherham and Bournemouth have had more than one insolvency in recent seasons so something is critically wrong at the clubs.

Of course you've ignored the fans who are not responsible for mis-management at clubs or maybe overpaying lazy players who don't perform. People support their clubs by buying a season ticket year on year and in the cases you've quoted don't get much in return. Why do they always suffer.

My System: Sky+ Pace v3, and before that analouge 80cm dish with Prima by Pace box pointed at 19.2e (not very imaginative then!)

It's stupid, it basically means that Luton are down before they've even started, while Bournemouth and Rotherham are in a season-long playoff to survive.

In my opinion, I think that instead of docking points, clubs that go insolvent should be banned from promotion for 1 to 3 seasons, judged on a case-by-case basis. That would punish the owners who spent beyond their means and in doing so cheated clubs who played by the rules, while not unduly punishing the players or fans. If they were still relegated, it would at least be on a level playing field, so to speak.

Some exciting games for Luton in the Conference next season

Luton - Burton Albion or Luton - Barrow
