Unhappy champions league final - thoughts

well what can i say about that from a united fan view.

they was just awful the defending and the passes from carrick etc. One thing they didn't do was keep the ball which you had to against a great team in barcelona.

barcelona just had too much of the ball, was easily able to get it back from united.

At the start i thought yes game on and united knick a goal in front but sadly it didn't happen.

time to move on and learn from the defeats to become stronger.

United will be down from this defeat but they can take pride in saying they are the champions of the premier league for the 11 time which is a record that wont be beaten and are the fifa club world champions.

Well done Barcelona

I think the better team won tonight...what happened is exactly what I feared would happen - an early goal from Barca, and then they would hold the ball.

I thought Anderson and Carrick did not have a good game, the whole team looked a bit flat. Maybe Barca wanted it more? Hard to say.

But, still I think it was a good season - next season we will be back.

P.S. If anyone saw what SAF had to say - a good example of how to be gracious in defeat.

Well

I have to say Barcelona were the better team on the night, there was very little desire and passion from what looked like a tired Man Utd team

I agree, perhaps 66 games is too much in a season, but Manchester United were a shadow of themselves after the first 15 minutes or so. Barcelona on the other hand were excellent.

agree with both comments they just didn't dig in and fight to at least draw the match that we know united can do.

they just let barcelona play and how many times did van der sar kick the ball up the pitch which is not what usually happens.

they left too much space in the middle of the pitch and just let barcelona in.

fergie in his interview held back i think there will be some very harsh words that will need to be said.

yes anderson and carrick was poor tonight.

Carrick his passing was awful and too many times over hit instead of short to ronaldo, rooney etc.

anderson never got into the game and to take off park for tevez was a good idea but never worked. should have been anderson

also what was with the starting off 4,3,3 and then going 442 it messed up uniteds play.

Barca were excellent, there's no doubt that they are the best team in Europe and that Messi is the best player in the world. Their movement and vision is second to none, and if you want to show a young player how to keep the ball, show him a video of Iniesta and Xavi from tonight - magnificant.

United were unbelievably poor at the back. One has to question why Rio was passed fit to play - did Rio push his way into the team without thinking whether it was better for the team to have a fully fit Evans? O'Shea is a fine squad player, but United need a right-back of real quality to replace Gary Neville - hopefully Rafael can make that place his.

Ironically enough, Ronaldo was our best player, which just makes even clearer how poor the rest were. As for Berbatov - shotting that lazy b****** would be an act of kindness Buy Benzema, United need a top class goal-machine more than Ribery (unless Ronaldo does leave, of course). Macheda is still too young.

yes berbatov just annoys me, he just does his own thing and not try to make a good partnership up front like cole and yorke was

there has been comparision of berbatov to eric cantona but no why is he like that.

they need someone up front with rooney or tevez as since van Nistelrooy left they haven't had it up front for years

I agree with almost everything thats been said except I dont think Messi is the worlds best, Inesta for me is just magic, and Xavi aint too bad either.

United did look leggy and none of them seemed to want the ball(when they had it lol)

Well, knowing Sir Alex he will be determined to get it right. One thing is sure: I think he needs a better assistant. I think Phelan is ok for coaching, but when it comes to changing tactics on matchday he might not be the one we need.

If Portugal fail to qualify - which is entirely possible given their present situation - maybe Queiroz will come back for a third time. If he does, you have to wonder whether he's destined to be the next manager!
