Please say you're taking the Mick, you're top!* I know that the UEFA website itself isn't the best at match previews and so forth, so I'd suggest that Sky Sports is your best bet for following the tournament hour-by-hour.

BTW A/L, you're now 2nd after tonight's game

* And 7th out of all England-based players!

What

First???????....... That just cannot be correct I only had 12 points when I logged in earlier and the average was 18, so I changed my captain, is that what has created this unheard of situation. Does it not work like the Premier league one? are you able to alter your line-up mid flow as it were (ugh sounds messy dunnit) then get retrospective points?

It's because when you checked, the scores from yesterday's games (Sweden 5-1 Belarus and Italy 0-0 Serbia) hadn't been processed within the fantasy game at that point.

Matchday 1 Table

England kicked off the Championships with a hard fought 2-1 win against Finland, and while the much anticipated matches between Germany & Spain and Italy & Serbia both ended in 0-0 stalemates, the first rising star was wearing Swedish yellow – Marcus Berg scored a hat-trick and could have had more as Sweden came from behind to eventually thrash Belarus 5-1 in Malmo.

The largely unknown squads have presented SupaLiga’s managers with a real challenge. Topper has taken the initiative, topping the table with his Tossers after Matchday 1.

Analoguesat, F1 SupaLiga regular but international wooden spoon specialist on the football scene, is currently 2nd. Norm’s Scozia Non C'e have started the tournament in good form, they occupy 3rd place. Premier League SupaLiga champion mhku has so far completely failed to bring his domestic success onto the international stage – It’s definitely not hot at the bottom!

And finally, our little league is 23rd out of a total 377 leagues in the ‘leagues of leagues’. Come on lads!

Matchday 2 Table

England secured a semi final place with a magnificent 2-0 over Spain in Gothenburg. That combined with Germany’s earlier victory against Finland on Thursday means that Finland are out and Spain must beat Finland and England help them by defeating Germany on Monday night. Group A is on a knife-edge after Italy beat hosts Sweden 2-1 and supposed wiping boys Belarus held Serbia to a no score draw. All teams could yet qualify on Tuesday when Serbia face Sweden and Belarus take on Italy.

In SupaLiga, Topper is holding on to top spot for now, but the Tossers are only just ahead of Norm’s Scozia squad and my Kanyes. I recorded the top score on Matchday 2 with 56pts.

Analoguesat and his Scotsat team have dropped from 2nd to 4th, while reigning PL SupaLiga champion mhku is still languishing in 8th. S_G turned up late and proceeded to score 44pts, 3rd highest on MD2 – good things may yet come to those who wait, it would seem.

SupaLiga is now 69th in the 'league of leagues', so everyone should pat themselves on the back

Matchday 3 Table

Monday and Tuesday saw the final group matches take place. Spain, pre-tournament favourites, were eliminated despite beating Finland 2-0 due to the 1-1 draw between England and Germany which assured England of top place in Group B. In Group A there was everything still to play for as every team still had a chance to qualify. Sweden brushed Serbia aside three goals to one, with Marcus Berg adding two more goals to his hattrick against Belarus. Italy toiled against Belarus, and at one point were behind, but it ended well when 15 minutes from the end Robert Acquafresca scored to win the game and the group. England play hosts Sweden, and Italy face Germany in the semis on Friday.

Topper has taken a firm grip on proceedings, as the Tossers look like hard-on favourites with a 12pt lead over my Laboratoire Kanye team going into the knock-out stage.

I was 5pts shy of Topper's score of 59 on Matchday 3, but I still went up to 2nd and above Norm's Scozia Non C'e. Pazinho goes up to 4th and may feel he still has a chance. S_G, despite being a Matchday late, is already up to 7th and will be targeting his father's 6th place from now until the final.
And finally, our little league is up to dizzy heights of 28th in the 'league of leagues' ranking - I am very impressed

Well

Jason has now pipped me and found 3 more points since Friday night but last time I looked we were equal on 202 points and Norm is now equal, so it all rests on the final on Monday, which is proving difficult since there are only three forwards available for selection so surely everyone will have the same forward lineup......

Semi-final Table

The finalists for the 2009 edition of the Under-21 European Championship are now known after Friday's semis.

In the early kick-off in Gothenberg, hosts Sweden got off to a disasterous start to England, conceding to a Martin Cranie effort in the first minute and letting two more in before half-time. However, the Swedes' super talented front pair of Marcus Berg and Ola Toivonen pulled off the most unlikely of comebacks and levelled the game at 3-3. Extra time passed without incident, and so a penalty shootout was needed.

Despite England's terrible history with penalities, the Lions came good when Joe Hart shined, not only taking and converting a penalty, but distracting Guillermo Molins enough to induce a sudden death miss and give England a final place for the first time since 1984. The other semi was rather less dramatic, with Germany defeating 1-0 Italy in a dogged yet uninspiring encounter.

Despite enough being in a strong position going into Friday's semis, Topper was unable to continue his big scoring run, taking only 41pts. As a result, the Tossers have now lost 1st place ahead of the final to my Laboratoire Kanye team, who scored the joint 2nd highest of the day with Scozia Non C'e, Norm's squad.

So it would appear that the SupaLiga U21 will go to either long-time leader Topper, reigning UniSat Champions League champion Norm, or your one and only league secretary!

PL SupaLiga champion mhku has had a terrible tournament but had a great semi-final with 61pts the highest score of the day. And finally, our league is now up to 23rd in the 'league of leagues', so three cheers for all of us!

Final Table

Germany are the Under-21 European champions after convincingly beating England 4-0 in Malmo’s Swedbank Arena. As with most final matches, the first goal is so crucial, as so it proved for Germany when Gonzalo Castro netted in the 23rd minute.

England were never truly able to threaten a tight defensive unit guarded by holding midfielder Mats Hummel, either before or after Germany’s second goal – a rocket free-kick from long range by Mesut Ozil on 48.

England nearly scored from a Adam Johnson back-heel and a Lee Cattermole header, but both were blocked on the line, before the trophy was sealed with 11 minutes to play when Sandro Wagner snuck through the English defence to make it three and then added a fourth five minutes later with a superb shot to corner from outside the box.

While the final itself turned out to be somewhat rather less of a contest than we may have hoped for, the fight for the SupaLiga U21 did go to the wire.

There were three contenders going into Monday night; me, Topper and Norm. I was leading beforehand, but a poor score of 50pts ended my hopes, so Laboratoire Kanye finished in 3rd. So it was down to the Tossers and Scozia Non C’e. They began the night level on 202pts each.

The winning margin was one single point. 70pts to 69pts. The winner was Norm! The Scotsman’s score of 70 was the tournament’s top score, and this title will add to his growing haul of SupaLiga accolades, having won both the F1 and Premier League titles in 2007 and the inaugural UniSat Champions League this season just gone.

And for the record, SupaLiga U21 finished up 41st in the league of league… pretty good when you consider there were 390 leagues
