My System: Standard Sky+ at this stage. QX9650, 8Mb RAM, Vista Ultimate 64
Question Equipment required for Sports Feeds

Hi

First, I am not looking for "fast" pictures a la the SIS "Holy Grail"

I would like some advice on what receiver I should buy, dual dish or motorised dish. I am located in the West Country near Bristol.

Ideally I would like to be able to watch European football from Spain, Portugal, Germany etc. The games not shown on Sky. It would also be great to watch some Saturday or Midweek games not broadcast on Sky. It seems that Sky show the game of their choice but there are plenty more taking place.

If I could get other feeds for Golf, Tennis and Rugby League it would be a bonus but Football would be the main aim. I appreciate it may require some form of subscription or card to view these events.

All advice welcomed

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 6 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/10E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

The last noble sat warrior to fly the olden flag of Analogue

To get feeds off many satellites you will require a motorised dish of at 1m in diameter.

You wont see many feeds from Prem grounds - many of them have fibre links these days direct to the broadcasters.

Keep an eye on this site for a few days to give you an idea of what turns up:

My System: andrews dish - jaeger 1224 motor, vantage x221tsci, skystar 2, diablo v2.3, cyfra+

azbox receiver would be a good choice as it can display 4:2:2 feeds but doesn't have a blind scan feature yet for it

rugby league feeds have been on 10e evey week so far. also tennis and golf is about in feeds regularly

european football such as spanish la liga , italian, german and dutch are shown on aljazeera sport a 12month viewing card can be got for 60 pound, which broadcasts from hotbird 13east satellite

the viewing card option might be better for you and a motorised dish to pickup the others

just depends on what you have to spend really as dish, motor, receiver and that viewing card I'm sure you can get for about 400 ish

southern satellite one of the forum sponsors i think has some deals on motorised system or can give you a price for one.

Thanks, I will keep one eye on the site and see what I can learn.

Ironically, I used to fit Satellite as a sideline to my main business. That was 15 years ago and Analogue (still my favourite too ) was the norm. I haven't done a thing since then and whilst the principals of setup and alignment haven't changed, encryption, etc is totally different with the advent of digital.
