My System: Technomate TMS-1500 CI+ "patched" receiver, 90cm p/f 36v motorised dish, Inverto C120 0.3db LNB, Moteck V-Box 2, Packard Bell 6052 XP Home computer, Toshiba A60 laptop, and lots of Russian Vodka !
FTA Premiership Matches

Not all bad news it seems but not far off.
For the opening day of the season while TV Sport Ro is a non starter, there are still some free to air games being shown.
Today (Saturday) there is Spurs v Liverpool on NTV Turkey at 42 east, BBT at 1 west, and Telesport Ro at 4 west.
Best bet is NTV can just pick it up with my 70 cm dish.

On Sunday Everton v Arsenal on Lider TV at 36 east (think it is fta), and on NTV Turkey at 42 east although there is a delayed showing of this 6-15

Seems we have a problem with NTV Turkey. Time now 1-50pm Saturday afternoon and no game on the box.
Can someone translate this message which is on the tv screen;
Premier League Maci Nedeniyle
NTV Avrupa Yayinina
Ara Vermek Zorundayiz
Yayinimiz Macin Ardinda
Normal Akisina Donecek. it's all Greek to me

BBT at 1 deg West ?
I tried tuning that one in but no joy
I would have assumed that as it's FTA I would have no bother
I have a humax 5400 with a 6 in 1 fun card.
Do I need a particaular type of LNB ?
Any advice gratefully appreciated

It's on Thor 3 eastern Europe beam, and so not easy to receive without a 1.0m+ dish.

Thanks for the link
I'm in Newcastle Upon Tyne with a 1 Metre Dish
The footprint seems to come pretty close to where I am.
Would it be reasonable to expect some sort of signal
When I check the signal strength I get a signal level of 33% and a Signal Quality of 0%.

It's not an exact science, but I think that the readings you're getting are about right, i.e. not quite enough... you are really on the fringe.

A 1.0M dish in East Anglia would probably do it, but you may need a 1.2M or even bigger.

I can't get a sniff on a 90cm, and I'm right on the fringe too.

Thanks for that
I'm pushing it with neighbours with a 1m dish so looks like I'm snookered
I might have to try 4 deg W for my Saturday footie
It seems there is a Romanian Channel there what gets the games

Yes, there is very little FTA Prem. footie this year. Not much to watch unless you go the card/CAM route.

At least there's Match of the Day on Saturday and Sunday though!

Before I mess about with my motorised dish should I be able to get that Sat.

Hmm, again, I think you will be lucky.

You've probably seen all this but if not, have a look at h**p://www.knplogic.co.uk/sport/ to see the channels the footy is on, then check h**p://www.lyngsat.com/ to find the satellite and channel etc, then you can link to the satellite footprints on the right of the channel definitions.

You can get a gadget called a CAM (Conditional Access Module) into which (in most cases) you will need to insert a valid smartcard (viewing card) to decrypt the channels you require. There are many different types of both CAMs and cards.

Just been looking at LJ's for the footy fixtures on TV this Sunday and for the Arsenal v
Middlesbrough game NTV & Lider are both due to show it.
One has it as FTA(Mpeg) the other as FTA(Encrypt), can anybody explain what the (Mpeg) & (Encrypt) stand for seeing as both channels are free-to-air.
Thanks Rob.

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 5 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/13E/16E /19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

Lider are scrambling their sports content - they have been knocking out the Olympics programming on 13E this week.

Mpeg is the digital transmission standard.

I see the Bulgarian station BBT is now also listed as being scrambled. The availability of fta footy for those who want it is really being squeezed.

My System: Sky HD, TM6800HD, Manhattan Plaza ST550 and TM1500 CI+. 1.0m dish and 36v motor, Panasonic DVD HDD recorder and Panasonic video/DVD recorder. Sony G800 HD TV stand/surround system + Sony KDL40W2000. Infinity USB, Elvis, CAS1, CAS2.

I think BBT is on the East Beam and needs a biggish dish.

I suspect it means that the football is only available on the east beam transmission of NTV on 42E.

NTV is radiated on 2 beams, the S1 which is the transmission we can - just - get in western Europe, and an east beam which points out towards Turkey.....

Could well be right AG, just wish we could find a way of translating that bloody message so we could be sure.
Tried this channel during the week, when no football was on, but it still had the same message in place.
Seems strange that they would shut down the channel, not impossible I know, or maybe it will start up again soon !

The only words I could translate were 'Give Up', so I did

Sounds like you're right, although you do know that you can stream some Premiership matches over the web (if you have a FAST broadband connection)?

Nice one Stick will have to give this one a go. I have a 750 speed rating so will try tomorrow (unless I'm in the pub) or next weekend.

You'll probably be disappointed with the quality after watching on sat (although one or two are actually quite good these days...), and you may have to try loads of times (especially at busy periods, like when there's a match on!!!) but this is how I started off, before I got into satellite.

Find a good server, and the picture is watchable. It's not ideal, but it's better than listening to the radio!

Thanks for that incubus, just confirms what we thought.
Can't watch on Hispasat as it is encyrpted, and I am too mean to pay.

Nice one for any Bolton fans as there friendly match away to Sevilla on Saturday is live on Andalucia TV on 19 east, also FTA. (k.o. 9 pm)
