Did anyone else notice strange things happening on TPS/Mult at about 20.00 CET on Tuesday, 27/Nov. The problem lasted to about 20.15 CET, then everything was back to normal. My ad3000ipva was completely crashed by this, even without any card in the via slot. I could see what was going on with my nok9600 46se NOM - which could analyse the problem, but could not clear a picture. I wonder if they were testing some new ideas out, or whether it was just a cock up by TPS. If anyone else noticed anything, please post and I will give a few more details. If a deliberate TPS trick, they were very interesting.

I think they were trying something out (some new line of defence against the pirates?). I had no BBC-Prime in the morning but it was back again sometime later in the day. Lots of posts on French boards about problems but no clear description of what was happening. 2old

Thanks for the info 2old. From what I saw I assume that they would knock out official cards as well - but I'm no expert so could be wrong. Very "interesting" IDs they were using, but I think I'll not take it any further on this board.

conversations on other boards suggest that TPS have indeed put up a new line of defence which effectively causes multiple-provider cards (always the "hobby" variety...) to fail in certain receivers. Various people now working on a solution. IN the meantime, anyone with this problem can revert to using a single provider on their card. 2old

TPS is one provider. AbSat is another. Viasat another. And so on. A provider is the party from which you take your subscription. Official cards are issued by a particular provider for (obviously) just their package. So the normal state of an official subscriber card is that it "contains" keys/idents/etc for just that one single provider. Hobby cards can be programmed to contain more than one provider. That's why you don't need to insert a different card when switching from SCT to Sexview. So one step towards beating the pirates would be to prevent receivers/CAMs working with such multi-provider cards (thereby knocking out hobby cards but not official subscriber cards). This is exactly what some providers are working on. 2old

Whatever happened..happened again.(With my Nokia 9800s) Last night (sunday) my tps went at 20.30. Same as last time. But whats strange is that the frequency of some channels seems to change too. Maybe its me.. Like last time to get my channels back I had to re-scan the satellite to find the missing tps channels. Do others have the same problem? nobbly :+
